e3 Faulty coils - Repairs needed.

Should the outside fan be running when the heat pump is running. I am getting a frost build up outside on the coils.

outside fan ( condenser cooling fan ) need not run all the time . if it is frosting it can be seen from outside.

Freezer on top is working practically non stop and frosting up and fridge beneath is not cooling there is no air circulating in it

Its the defrost problem.Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 4 hours then reconnect it and check,if the same problem is noticed again,.If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. You can get required parts from www.repairclinic.com or from online sears part site.------------- Thank you.

My carrier heat pump has frosting on the outside on it's coils. I know that it's cold outside but is that normal?

Yes it is normal especially with high humidity. The moisture freezes on the coils just like on the evaporator coils in a freezer. The heat pump will defrost itself by shutting off the fan outside and reverse the flow of refrigerant to melt the ice when it build up then switch back to normal heat. That's why at times you may feel cold air coming out of the vents in the house. The outside coils are defrosting.

Fujitsu 18000 goes into defrost once an hour at 28to 32 degrees outside temp. trying to maintain 70 degrees inside . test run was ok on start up. just installed 3 days ago .. vacuum out the lines. lost...

what is the lowest outside temp manufacturer suggests? Heat pumps are not very good when it gets good and cold... call the installers and see what they have to say for you.

ASTA18LCC inverter heatpump constantly de-frosting even if temp

Usually if a Fujitsu is undersized for the area it is heating, it will defrost alot. Moreso the colder it gets as well.

A/C does not blow cold air. It has frosting built on the pipe that connects to the a/c unit outside. There is some water built up where the filter sits. I turnd off the a/c for a full day, the frost...

Shelly,
Most likely you are low on freon. Your air conditioner uses a coil that gets cold when the freon passes through it to produce your cooling. The temperature of the freon inside the coil is directly controlled by the pressure of the freon. When the system is low on freon, it causes the coil to become to cold and then instead of sweating it freezes. You will need an a/c technician to reslove the problem for you as the task requires tools and equipment that you most likely don't have.

Thank you,
Chillmaster

My fridge makes loud popping noises and is over cold (freezing the things in the fridge & frosting up the freezer, when it is a frost free freezer)

Check in your owners manual for a "noise" section to see if you can identify the source. Refers make lots of unusual noises so it helps to understand if they are normal or not. Over cold in the fridge may be due to the air damper system being stuck open or food placed too close to the air duct outlet. Frost in the freezer can be due to moisture getting inside from a bad door seal, etc.
