0x800ccc0e message With Vista Home Premium

Attempting to use Windows Mail and having no luck with my ISP or the Acer Company.
Keep receiving the ox800ccc0e message when sending and receiving mail.
This is a brand new system (3 days) and am ready to take it back!
Acer, 3 GB RAM, Aspire M5640
I see a lot of hits on this message but no solutions.
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Hello kenmar0329,

You should already know what the error means. It's pretty basic as other said. You can't connect or reach the mail server. Now, I found a good step by step tutorial you can go over to troubleshoot this error. I had this myself and followed this tutorial my friend had book marked. I eventually found it was because I was connected to the MSN Network. I was playing with mail and network settings for almost a week. :(

Here is the link if you or anyone else still needed it:

If your still having trouble, feel free to email me. area52@gtfonow.com

Symptom:
When you try to check or send any email, you get the following error messages:

The host 'pop3.example.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.example.com Mail Account', Server: 'pop3.example.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Or

The host 'pop3.example.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.example.com Mail Account', Server: 'pop3.example.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Cause:

  • Problem with internet connection.
  • Incorrect anti-virus or firewall configuration.
  • Message stuck in outbox.
  • Incorrect newsgroup notification setting.

Solution:
  1. Check your Outlook Express settings.
  2. If you cannot get web pages then disconnect your internet connection and reconnect it and try again.
  3. Reboot the computer and try.
  4. Still no luck? Then check your DNS numbers, remove and reinstall your internet connection or TCP/IP.
  5. This error can also appear if you have "notify me if there are any new newsgroups" check box selected but don't have a news account set up.
    • From the menu, go to Tools -> Options -> click on General tab.
    • Uncheck the "notify me if there are any new newsgroups" check box.

Important: If you have an anti-virus program installed on your computer and if you have set the anti-virus program to scan all emails automatically, then you need to change the settings in the anti-virus program to resolve this issue. To do that, you might need to turn off the option where it says "scan your email" or something like that. Refer your anti-virus manual for instructions.

Have you tried the windows update, usually for vista they have a built-in WDM drivers for ATI, and right now you may want to use that for the meantime if the computer did not recognize the exact model number also when using the windows update it you can check if microsoft has a new WDM driver for your video card.

The video card is a built-in video card on the mobo, right?

Overclock MX440 64MB in Vista

to be honest, the MX440 is rather outdated, especially with only 64mb sdr, to make gaming experience better graphically, the minimum card you will need would be 256mb ddr and no doubt windows vista would look better also.
