Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

My Goldstar microwave Model MA1001S, manufactured May 1998, was working fine early in the evening. Went to use it later, no clock or anything. Moved microwave to other outlet, same results. Does this unit have a fuse or reset somewhere? Unit hasn'tbeen abused and no decline in power or performance before this.

After it was plugged, check the end of the wire for any voltage. If there is no voltage, cut the wires 3" away from the plug and replace the plug.

No power but outlet is functioning properly

There is a ceramic fuse inside the oven. Remove the case and follow the cord from the back of the oven to the fuse. Replace with on of the same amp size.

Goldstar Microwave - Digital display is dark & does not operate

I would suspect the oven cavity thermostat is open.

We have a similar model's service / repair manual and have uploaded it to our site here for free download to help you with disassembly & troubleshooting.

To order Goldstar / L.G. parts, visit Encompass. Since l.G. / Goldstar does not list part numbers in their manuals, you'll probably have to call Encompass toll-free at at 866-779-5835.

Goldstar model mv1526.Sometimes the fan comes on by itself and the only way to stop it is to unplug it for a few hours. The fan off on button does not stop it even though it reads fan stop.

Contact the manufacturer (Goldstar) about that--it sounds like your microwave definitely needs to be repaired, especially since you've already tried unplugging it (which is the first thing a technician would suggest that you try). Usually, the manufacturer can tell you how to get your microwave repaired or replaced, and if it's still under warranty, the repair/replacement may even be free!

Goldstar's phone number (according to their website, www.goldstarappliances.com ) is (800) 243-0000

Good luck! :)

Need help with my Gold Star microwave.

i just took out my fuse on the same model. you have to pull down the microwave and take cover off. there should be like 6 screws on backside and cover will slide back and off. then you will see a fuse cover with a small cylinder fuse in a plastic cover. pull it out and check continuity with volt meter. mine unfortunately came up good still, so i dont know what kinda problem mine is having. had a short in light and it popped and power was gone. good luck!!

Goldstar microwave oven stop heating

microwave ovens have a special Magntron fuse that is inside the body of the microwave its much bigger than a normal fuse, if its blown the microwave wont work.

Humming sound, F9 and dead

Seems like I answered this, but maybe it's a different poster.

The 721 model code means it's an LG/Goldstar-made oven and F9 indicates a problem with the inverter or magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages involved, I do not recommend that a person without training and experience ever work on these models.

I would suggest you contact Sears for service.

Microwave just went dead

If there is no display and nothing works it may be as simple as a blown fuse. Try that first but unplug the unit before you do anything.
