Hi. this is a common issue for Ipod. Try to reset the unit first by pressing middle button and menu button for 5 to 10 seconds.

Have a good one!

there could be a problem on your sound docking system. Try to switch off/on the docking system. unplug te power cable.

  • marydwyer51 Aug 08, 2010

I reset the ipod and have had docked for about 10 hours and it still shows that it is fully charged. so i think that may have worked. I will contact you again if it doesn't. Thank you for your help

Yeah. There could be a problem with the docking systems charging capability. I suggest you contact the manufacturers technician.

Yes. It is an 8GB iPod that plays fine without an adapter

  • marydwyer51 Aug 08, 2010

Is there a solution for this problem? I just bought this and will return it if its not working

  • eagle338
    eagle338 Aug 08, 2010

In that case I would say you better return it. It looks fishy.

    eagle338 Aug 08, 2010

Well then good luck. The system's docking port is probably damaged. Thats what I meant by fishy. If you wanna open it and doom your warranty then be my guest.

  • marydwyer51 Aug 08, 2010

I didn't say I wanted to open it

I doubt you can repair it yourself. Take it to an apple service store.

How do I re charge battery with electrical plug

To charge the battery using your computer:
Connect iPod shuffle to a high-power USB port on your computer using the included iPod shuffle Dock. The computer must be turned on and not in sleep mode (some models of Macintosh can charge iPod shuffle while in sleep mode). When the battery is charging, the status light on iPod shuffle is orange. When the battery is fully charged, the status light turns green.
If you don't see the status light, iPod shuffle might not be connected to a high-power USB port. Try another USB port on your computer.

To charge the battery using an iPod USB Power Adapter If you do not have then you have to buy the same from Apple Store) 1 Connect the AC plug adapter to the power adapter (they might already be connected). 2 Plug the USB connector of the iPod shuffle Dock into the power adapter. 3 Plug the power adapter into a working electrical outlet. 4 Put iPod shuffle in the dock. You can disconnect and use iPod shuffle before it is fully charged.

Apple does this so that only Certified accessories have to software to make the hardware circuits charge an i pod, thats especially a problem with some sound docks, my i pod 2 gen works with only 1 of the 3 sound docks that i have tried, but i have a bluetooth i home so i play my music wirelessly

My bose dock has power but no sound the remote dont work but it charges the ipod wot can be wrong

i spoke with bose tech support today because my docking system had no sound...everything else was fine, but no sound. they told me to take the battery pack off of the back, then reset my ipod by holding down the center button at the same time as the menu button for about 5 seconds (the apple icon will display), then reconnect the battery pack to the back of the dock and retry. it worked! good luck.

Ipod 4th gen "charging not supported"

It does that to my iPhone; if I want to charge I have to use a separate cable and run the audio into the aux. Defeats the whole purpose of a dock if you ask me, but I guess they never anticipated what they'd have to do to charge the new iPhone batteries back when they designed the pre-G3-phone docks.

My Jensen ipod docking system wont charge my i touch

The older ipods charge using 12v, the newer ones (including the Touch 2nd gen) use 5v. So a lot of docks that will charge a nano will not charge a new Touch. If a dock says it will work with the iPhone then it will work with the newer iPod Touch (2nd gen).
If you have an old dock and want to charge a new Touch (sounds like the case here) then you can get an adapter. Scosche makes one just for this.

They both use the same speakers, my personal opinion deems they are both the same. However the second SoundDock charges via USB pin, so it is future proof for future iPods.

for some **** reason the new ipod nano (4th generation) does not support FireWire and therefore will not charge on any docking station that is a FireWire power sorce - which seems to be most of them out there!
have same problem so will end up charging from computer as docking station still plays the new nano, no point in buying new docking station just for sake of charging!
