Question about Nikon Coolpix S210 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I've been using the same memory card for a while. Recently, after uploading some pics onto my pc from the card, upon putting it back in the camera i got a message on the viewfinder that says, "Memory card is write protected." I didn't change anything and can't understand why that happened. Now I can't take any pics or delete any that are on the card. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you, Linda W

Assuming the switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position, did you remember to use the "safely remove hardware" function before removing the card from the computer?

Importing pictures

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

My flip camera says its empty but when I try to record it says its full??

Your memory card may think it's full if you've been deleting pics from it when it's in your PC and not in the camera.

If you've offloaded all the pics you want to from your memory card, put it back in your camera and "reformat" the card - there should be instructions how to do this in your camera manual. (If you've misplaced your manual you can likely find an online version on the website of your camera manufacturer). Hopefully this will fix your problem.

From now on, (even if you have to buy a new memory card), don't do any editing or deleting of pics directly on the memory media while it is in your PC (or Mac). Offload your pics to a file of their own on the PC (you can edit pics from that file). Then put the memory card back into the camera, verify that you did indeed successfully offload the pics to the PC (with the media card out of the PC), then delete the pics from the card while it's in the camera.

Reformat the memory card periodically (in the camera) after you've offloaded your pics (reformatting will erase all pics so you've gotta be sure you captured them elsewhere) to maintain the 'health' & full functionality of your memory card.

thanks.

I uploaded pics from my computer onto my Camera SDPhotosmart M537

If I understand you correctly, you put pics onto the SD card using the computer, then put the card in the camera and now can't see the pics? Is that correct? The camera won't recognize the pics because it uses a different recording system than the computer. Now if you want to take more pictures using that card, you will need to format it in the camera first.

CAN I UPLOAD PICS FROM MY SONY CYBERSHOT W55 USING A SANDISK??

what do you mean nothing happens???
the memory stick pro duo should fit right into the sony cybershot....
if your struggling to load your photos onto your computer buy a universal memory card reader!
you should try and use a memory stick in a camera that needs an sd though!

Memory card error is common problems in various sd cards and cf cards. I took a closer look at my little SD memory card. It has a sliding lock on it to protect data. Check to see if the card works when you slide that lock up or down. Read more about memory card:

Upload pics to camera from pc

Just use a external memory card put it into your computer and paste it on the card. Then put the card in your camera. Even though you have changed the way the picture looks. It will still go back onto the camera.

You should be able to purchase an SD/MMC memory card and there should be a facility on your camera menu to copy your photos on to the card. You can purchase a USB 9 in 1 card reader or similair and put your card in and download pics to your pc. Cheaper than getting it fixed.
