When you try to turn it on and the green light goes off:

On the front of the set press and hold BOTH the Menu and Input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code; the most common is 2, a pause and 2 blinks; it will repeat the error code at least 5 times.

If it is 2,2 I can tell you exactly what is wrong and have instructions on how to repair it yourself.

This site is supposed to email me if a client responds to my answer but there have been problems lately with this.

If this happens:
If you want the instructions (they tell you everything you will need and exactly how to do it) let me know here by using the "add a comment" button.

There has been some trouble on this site lately where I do not see the comment; if this happens email :"support@fixya.com" and tell them you want them to contact me for the instructions.

The other option is you can also email "Lauren@fixya.com" who is the community manager here.

If the site does not notify me of your response I cannot get the FREE instructions to you.

2,2 is short protection and means 98% of the time one of the two pico fuses that protect the convergence circuit is blown.

The model number indicated uses 2 of the STK-392-570 CHIPS; both chips and the fuse will have to be replaced.

If you are interested I have start to finish instructions for this repair and the best place to get the parts; I also have photos of where the fuses are and what they look like.

A COUPLE OF PHOTOS FOR YOU:

ABOVE IS WHAT THE PROTECT FUSES LOOK LIKE.

THE CHIPS LOOK LIKE THIS BUT WILL HAVE THE STK-392-570 NUMBER ON THEM.

    Hi SD Tech,

I have a Mitsubishi WT-46807 TV. I think this is my problem (in that it turns on, then a second later, it turns off). When I held the menu and input buttons, it would blink once, pause, then 2 blinks. Perhaps I am just interpreting the blinks incorrectly.

Otherwise, from the descriptions above, it appears I have this exact same problem. I am trying to get this TV fixed in time for my son's birthday party later this month.

I am willing to pay for this advice, but when trying to do so, I was not confident that I would get YOU (and not a random expert). My user name is burt_squi339.

    Thank you.

First, 1,2 is no error detected, understand if you unplugged the set before doing that it will clear the error and you will get 1,2 every time.

As far as getting me you can do one of two things, in title of question mark it ATTENTION SD TECH or you can email the community manager and she will arrange for me to get the question; email for her is Laurenl@fixya.com.

Keep in Mind I am in California and not on the site 24 hours a day but am usually here during the day here at local time.

Hi SD Tech. This was most insightful. Yes, I am now getting the 2-2 code. I just initiated a request to you, personally, via the Fixya system. Thank you.

Did you check the service manual troubleshooting guide yet. You can try disconnecting the power to the inverter board and see if it will stay on and have sound.

Tv won't stay on

i have seen this before and it may be the front power button being stuck and when your remote turns it on the stuck button turns it back off again. I have an older mitsubishi that will not boot up right sometimes and i have to unplug it and plug it back in fot it to come on. I used to pick up broken tv and fix the power buton and resell them
