Question about Grohe Integrated 1/2'' Shower Thermostatic Rough-In Valve With Stops - 3412

Open Question

I have four showers that uses a Grohtemp 34 901 thermo controlled rough in valve in a recently built house. From first installation the temperature of the water coming out of several of them was WAY off. Setting it to 70 gets you 100-105 degree water. The hot water going in is roughly 140-150 degrees so its hot (solar heated and probably hotter now as its summer). Lately the water coming out of one of the showers when set to the minimum (70) has gotten even hotter-to the point of being unusable-feels like 105-110 degrees. Is there some kind of adjustment or calibration setting for this valve? Or does it just need a new thermostat cartridge? I have another shower that acts similarly while the other two seem to work ok-the water coming out seems close to the setting you've set it to. They two wonky ones have been like this since the house was built so they never worked right. Any ideas of what's going on with these two valves and how to get them working right? Thanks

The problem might be fixed by removing the cartridge and cleaning it thourghly and resetting temp stop.Yes the cartridge could be bad but new parts are readily available. Depending on water quality conditions in you area it may be difficult to disassemble so it may be a good idea to have a plumber do it for you. Thank you.

How do I adjust water temperature after valve has been installed

Don,

there be should be a knob (typically red in color) on the front of your water heater, with temperature degrees listed. The knob should also delineate a typical range of settings for domestic use, which range from 120 degrees to 160 degrees. While a hotter setting will allow an increased amount of warm water, for example for longer shower duration, these temperatures can present a risk of scalding and require more energy to maintain the selected temperature.

Install trim and adjust the thermostat on a Grohe shower faucet

Before you install the temperature control knob, adjust the valve body (47111) with a wrench to set the temperature to "100 degree or close to it". Now, place the limit ring to tdc (top dead center) and control knob with the red 100-degree align to it. Your problem may have been the valve's temperature setting is out range when you installing the temperature control knob.

I'd like to install 1 shower had and one hand held shower. What do I need to have ?

well you can do a 3 way shower valve , or a mixing valve with 2 control valves. or you can do just to regular shower valves one for each of the heads you want one for the rain and one for the shower head. this way is cheeper and you can have one on hot water and the other cold water or the other way around or both the same temp.

The temperature in my shower is very luke warm only at the shower

Do you mean the other faucets in the house are hot and only the shower is warm? If so there is an anti-scald adjustment on the faucet that needs to be turned up a few notches. Havent adjusted a Grohe faucet but most faucets you rmove the handle and behind the handle is a nothced adjustment ring that prevents the faucet from getting too hot. This ring, or stop, is pulled out and twisted clockwise(or counter clockwise to set higher or lower max temp, then pushed back. maybe you can look up grohe to see which way ring or stop adjusts for hotter water.
