Canon G16 is asking me to set the date/time every time I change its battery

There is a small battery INSIDE of the camera. It may need to be replaced OR the camera may have a short inside causing it to drain. If you need to have it serviced or if you need the correct battery, try this site: www.CamerasAndParts.com They just deal with the Canon's and they know these Canons well. They can either service it for you OR they should be able to sell you the part. It's the only place we recommend for the Canons. They are excellent and about half the cost on services as most other places.

I've just replaced the power jack on my CQ60, I've charged it overnight but still get a battery low warning on startup. I can still use the laptop for over 1 hour on battery when surfing the net,...

Are you sure it's indicating that the external battery is low? Quite often, they will warn you if the CMOS battery is nearly exhausted (these are like small watch batteries inside the case of the machine). It may simply be that this battery is nearly dead.

This small back-up battery on my Sony is under the main big power battery, it is like a large screw under the main power pack, I just turn that screw and the little round lid comes off to get to the little silver flat back-up one.
They are readily available from most good camera shops like Jesops for around £12 to £15 each.

When the battery is on the charging dock, the rewd

Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

If this response helps, please take a moment to post a rating for me. "Very Helpful" would be appreciated.

Camera clock

The small internal watch battery that keeps record of your settings when the camera has no other power source may have died. I recommend sending it to a certified camera repair shop to have the watch battery replaced, unless you're the type of person who is good at taking apart small electronic devices.

I have to set the date each time I turn on my Nikon S9 camera even when the battery is fully charged

Read the manual to determine my power supply is supposed to re-charge the watch and date power supply. Since this isn't happening and I don't have a recently purchased battery for it, I'll buy a new camera battery to see if it corrects the problem. If it doesn't correct the problem, the internal power supply that runs the date and time feature (2 days without the camera battery in the camera) will have to be replaced.

Battery charged but camera not working

The other battery is a small watch button battery, and is strictly to power the cameras clock to keep track of date and time of each photo. Its true that it's charged by the main battery, but this little button battery will not provide operation power for your camera. How old is the main battery? They normally only last for a couple years, and usually require replacement at that point even if only used a little.

Setting the date and time

No need to remove part of the camera case. This camera (Power Shot A510) does have a backup battery that is easy to get to. Under the rubber flap where you connect the cable, there's a little door you can pull out with your fingernail. There is a CR1220 battery - can be found at any jewelry store, as it is a watch battery. I replaced that and viola! No more messing with the date/time every time it powers off/on!

Date and time reset at power-on

Canon point and shoot cameras have an internal backup battery (a very small watch battery sized cell). Look under your battery door - do you see a small tab that has "CR1220" or something like that marked on it? If so - this is your backup cell. Just replace it and you will be good to go. If you do not see this, then the backup battery is buried deep inside the camera and would require full disassembly to replace. David Millier Advance Camera Repair

Date/time problem on *ist d

There is a small re-chargeble battery inside the camera that charges of the main battery. Chances are that battery had just drained when the date/time reset occured, but should be fine after you recharge.
