    No I dont hear anything. Thought I would ask before pulling out to see if there is a reset. Worked fine before storms. Don't know if hasn't worked since last night or if went out between then and this afternoon

    Thanks for your response!!

    Unfortunately, there is no reset button. The only way to get it reset is
    to unplug the cord for few minutes,say 30 minutes and then plug it in
    back. This would reset the microprocessor installed in the refrigerator.

    I wanted to have one more clarification.

    You mentioned that you do not hear any buzzing or humming noise. This
    information helps me a lot. However, you never mention - Other than
    cooling problem, do you see any other issue? Like no lights or dead

    well the light hasn't worked for about four or five months. I don't know what dead refridgerator means.

    Dead refrigerator refers that - There is no power entering the refrigerator. Refrigerator is not working at all.Fans are not running, no noise, no lights ----You mentioned only cooling . So wanted to get a clarification whether you could hear fan running or compressor running ?

    mmm I don't hear anything at all. The light went out months ago and when replaced the blub, the light still didn't work. However the freezer and the bottom still cooled just fine. Since thunder storms last night and the power going on and off about 3 times I haven't paid attention to it until this afternoon. I noticed soggy chicken nuggets in door and the ice less hard as normal.
    checked breaker and switched it a couple of times to make sure breaker was actually flipped to work.
    Then got on here.

    There could be many reasons. However, as the situation becomes worse after the storm, i would start by making sure that there is nothing wrong with either compressor or compressor relay. These are more prone to damage due to storm and is mainly responsible for no or less cooling.

    If you have experience in repairing appliances, could take all
    precautions necessary and use multimeter - You could do a continuity
    check on compressor motor and all combination's. An infinity value on
    multimeter would confirm bad compressor.

    On the side of the compressor you will see a box
    (maybe a cover) remove the cover if it has one and then remove the wire
    harness. next you will see the relay with the capacitor mounted to it.
    give the relay a tug and pull it off the side of the compressor. once
    you have it off pull the capacitor off and then give the relay a shake.
    If it rattles the relay is bad. if the relay does not rattle the
    compressor is bad and you will need to call a service guy to replace the

    Other option would be - Go to a local repair shop
    and get an overload and relay ( cost around $50 ).Replace it. If the
    problem still persists, then it is faulty compressor.

    Compressor's usually have 5 years warranty on it.

Whirlpool refrigerator not cooling after storm

Fan in freezer is making a real bad sound...... griding like it may be struggling to to stay running

This can be caused by frost accumulation on or aroundthe freezer fan Icing . And due to this no cooling will be in fridge compartment.
Unplug power and . defrost it. And after some times, switch on fridge.
This is due to auto defrost switch malfunction. keep temp setting at 5 degree and check auto defrost (if your fridge having that option) is working. If not you have to replace PCB. Thanks.

I have a black admiral fridge( freezer on top, not side by side) the vents on bottom of freezer froze with ice and fridge stopped working completly

the evaporator coil or freezer coil need for flushing due to clogging on vents have a presence of oil need for reprocesses and charging of refrigerant after refrocessing.
