Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

My MP160 goes through the motions of printing, but no ink actually comes out on the page. Both ink cartridges are new and I have checked and rechecked that they were put in correctly?

This sounds like you are trying to use either aftermarket or refilled cartridges. To clear the ink nozzles you will have to invest in new OEM cartridges, run the cleaning procedure at least 3x to clear the nozzles, align the printhead. This should take care of the problem.
I would remove the OEM cartridges, retape the ink outlet and breather hold at the top and store them for the next time you need to unclog the nozzles. Try LDProducts.com for ink cartridges.
As for the cartridges that you had the problem with I would take them back to the vendor for credit or an exchange.
Aftermarket and refill ink often do not meet manufacturer specifications.

My hp photosmart 5514 won't print. I put in new ink-black and color- and it goes through the motions, but the page is empty


I just had this exact problem on my HP 5514. Black won't print after running out of black ink. New cartridge no good.
I tried everything-no good. I suspected the pinholes in the printhead were clogged with dried ink because I didn't change cartridge in time.
The fix that worked perfectly was when I hacksaw top off old black cartridge & removed all foam wicks so now I had a funnel(can see clear thru). I installed the cartridge & filled it with alcohol, printed page & did head clean; then printed few more pages. Problem cleared almost immediately. I then soaked up extra alcohol inside cartridge with paper towel. Removed modified cartridge & installed good one. I guess this could be done for colors as well. I don't know if this is a proper procedure, but it sure worked well for me.

Put in new cartridge and unit will not print. Goes through all of the motions but doesn't print. Printed many pages before "low on ink" message. Why does it not print now?


It may be caused by some issues. Check:

* Did you remove the plastic from the connections from the cartridge as the instructions indicates?

* Is the cartridge connector from the printer ok?

* Is the cartridge correctly installed?

* It's a new cartridge? I mean, NEW. Not refilled one or a cartridge that expired two years ago.

* Try running one or two "Clean printer head" procedure to see if ink flows.

Printer performs as if printing yet gives only blank pages


Check whether you removed the yellow strip of the cartridges. remove the upper unit and check when head cleaning the ink goes throw the ink tube. if not you can sure that the head cleaning unit is to be repaired.

Neither black or color will print..


remove and check cartidges it is quite possible that the cartridges must hve dried up.

Change ink cartridge


I have a lexmark x2740 printer and have recently replaced the ink cartridge with a genuine lexmark ink and now my printer wont print, it goes through the motions of printing but only a blank page comes out.

Printer goes throught the motions of printing, but what comes out is a clean page - no ink


Some of them do. Try going into the printer properties and disabling bi-directional support. This will not allow the printer to check. HP has set some printers to not function if its disabled, but hopefully yours is not one of them.

Replaced Original Black Ink Cartridge but still bad low ink prints and low ink indicator lit.


Sounds like the print head is dirty take some rubbing alcohol and qtip and clean the print head.
