When I turn on my Sony BDP-S300 the power light in the center turns on, then when the "POWER ON" message appears, the power light goes off and the "FL OFF" message appears on the right. It will not stay on. Can this be fixed?

It can be fixed but the question to you will $75 bucks be worth it for the labor and $100 for parts respectivly?

A new one $189.00

So to answer your question it can be fixed but it will prolly hurt the back pocket just a tad.

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/edwy_1a56970cf1ea4620

Problem is within the power supply unit, now what? We need to have a closer look. But if its under warranty I would have the manufacture involved.

Try this grab your remote and hit the dimmer button this should make the unit tray open then what you do is shut it down and power it back on, Good luck Hope that works for you!

Rulds, you're a WIZARD! The power light still doesn't come on, but it works now and that's all that matters. Thank you for saving me a lot of money.

How do you reset to factory settings as since i updated it wont read discs

Hello
To reset your Sony BDP-S300,
When the power is ON, hold down the button between 'pause' and 'fast rewind' buttons, on the front panel of the player and press the 'Power" button on the frnt panel itself. No remote control function is required. The player will turn 'OFF" and all of the settings will return to their factory defaults. OK.

Bdp-s300 non responsive after firmware update

Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation.

  1. Power on the BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc player.
  2. Immediately after "POWER ON" is displayed on the front panel display (within one second), press the "STOP" button on the player. The disc tray opens and the player turns off automatically.
Note: Pressing the "STOP" button on the remote control does not work. It is necessary to press the "STOP" button on the BDP-S300 player.
  3. If the disc tray still does not open, repeat these steps but vary the timing of pressing the "STOP" button in step 2.
  • If the issue persists, please unplug the Blu-ray Player for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.
Please let me know if you require any clarifications. Thank you for understanding.

Can not play blu-ray on my bdp-s300

If the issue is with only new discs, then you can install the Firmware update.
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?upd_id=5861&mdl=BDPS300
If the issue is with all the discs, then try resetting the Player from the Menu. If the issue still persists, try power resetting the player.
Turn Off the player and remove the power plug from the wall outlet for 1 minute and reconnect it and check the operation.
If the issue still persists, then the player requires service.

I cannot play my blue ray disk on the sony bdp-s300

This is an older, simpler player that can't support latest formats of BR disks (like the 3D ones), it doesn't have enough hardware power to do it. Nothing you can do about it, apart of course buying a newer model.

Have purchased Terminator Salvation and 2012 on bluray, both Sony discs, they load and go to menu screen, however the icons to allow you to play or scene select etc do not appear, menu just plays over and...

Most likely you need to 'flash' (update) your BDP-S300's firmware. I had the same issue while trying to play AVTR in my BDP-S300. I downloaded Sony's latest firmware update, burned it to disc and popped the disc into the player... It takes 5-10 minutes for the 'flashing' to take place. AVTR now works in my player... Had to do this with one other Blu-ray movie about 18 months ago also.

Download the latest firmware version for the BDP-S300 here...

My sony bdp-s300 discs sticking

try cleaning the lens as you would with you previously owen DVD player. Also make sure the disks are clean. If that doesn't work, try resetting the machine by pressing and holding BOTH the stop and power buttons for about 10-15 seconds.

take it back to the store or repair shop. Same thing happened to a friend and because it was new, the machine was exchanged.

Sony BDP-S300.

I had the same problem and sent an email to Sony. Here's the answer (it worked) :
Go to page 53 of Operating Instructions Manual and reset the player as indicated.

If you do not have the manual, here's what to do : Press Power On button. Power On light will come up. Now, Looking at front panel you have (at right side) 5 switches : Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, and Fast Forward. Stop is the center switch.
Now, with Power On light on (it lasts only about 30 seconds), HOLD DOWN the STOP button and PRESS POWER ON button (the power on light has to be ON). This will reset the player. It worked with mine one.

Can not read disk

I just sent my BDP-S300 in with same problem...the tech told me he couldn't duplicate the problem and I think I know why...the fix is to UNPLUG the power cable and leave it unplugged for a minimum of 2-3 minutes...this process clears the internal memory; it seems that if you don't clear the memory, it won't read any disc because the unit thinks the same 'problem' disc is in the drive... (don't simply hold down the power button for 5 seconds - that will 'factory reset' the unit to default settings and you will have to reset your video / audio settings)...you have to physically unplug the unit from the power source...If I had waited a little longer before repowering the unit, I wouldn't have had to send the unit in (obviously the unit was without power during shipping and when it was powered up, internal memory was reset and thus did not indicate any problems). One more trick I learned is this - If a disc won't eject, turn the unit off, and instead of using the Power button to turn unit on, use the Open / Close button...the tech said the unit will then eject the disc before trying to read it...Hope this info helps!
