Hi

Single pressure controls have two adjusting screws: the range and the differential.

Dual pressure versions have three screws: the range and differential for low pressure operation, and a range screw for high pressure operation.

Yes, you can use a flat screw driver to adjust the leveling screws.

Thanks.

Can I adjust the regulator to lower the flame?

Hello Douglas;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

What bothers me is that changing these components increased your flame size?

1.) Make sure you have the correct gas safety valve. These valves are preset to inches of water column.

2.) The ignitor has nothing to do with your flame size. What happens is the oven thermocouple controls your oven temperature. When your oven get about 40 degrees above the set temperature, the ignitor and controlling gas components will shut down. When your oven temperature falls below the set temperature the ignitor and gas components will turn back on. There are ovens called accurate, which are expensive and do not have a 80 degree swing.

3.) Ok. Gas regulator. It is adjustable. Generally you have about a 7" water column pressure going into the regulator and 1" to 4" water column pressure coming out.

At the top of the gas regulator you have a long stem. Inside this stem is a shaft with a spring at the top and a valve at the bottom. In between is a rubber diagram which controls the valve based on the gas inlet and outlet pressure.

4.) Adjust. Turn the gas supply off to the range. Turn on the oven and gas burners to bleed the gas from the system.

There is a slot at the top of the stem. With a flat head screw driver, turn the stem top 1/8 of a turn counter clockwise to reduce the regulator outlet pressure. Turn the gas supply back on to check the flame. You may have to repeat this process to get your desired flame.

BE PATIENT. BE SAFE.

How do I convert my rheem water heater from lp to natural gas model#21vp40-1p

Call Rheem
Generally the company does not support changing type of gas since propane burns much hotter and has more pressure than natural gas.
You need different gas control valve, and need cast iron burner and orifice than matches that specific gas control valve.

I have an older raypak 150,000 btu natural gas spa heater. The pilot will stay lit, but when the thermostat calls for heat, the burner flames are very low and weak. After much troubleshooting, I am now...

It sounds like a gas supply issue. The orifices feeding the burners may be obstructed, or maybe blockage in the screen on the gas valve. I'd start by verifying that you have proper gas pressure, usually 7 inches water column.

Gas water heater: burner doesn't fire, replaced gas control valve

Hello,Don't worry about the rust flakes as every burner collects then and is normal. The new control should click. Please check incoming gas pressure supply 3.5"WC natural gas / 9"WC for LP.Check it at the piolt tube with a pressure dial meter,I assume the water temp now is cold.Did you change the thermocouple also as this provides the power to run the control?

I have an empire wall heater that was converted to natural gas how do i convert it back to propane?

you will need a propane conversion kit designed for that particular model heater.
which would most likely consist of a heavier spring for the gas valve and orifices for the burners depending on how many burners you have.
Most all gas heaters come thru the factory set up for natural gas and most have a kit available for conversion to LP (Propane) You will also need a manometer or a gas pressure tester to check the incoming and outgoing pressures from the green (2ndary )regulator outside your house to the gas valve inlet side, usually 11 to 14" WC( water column) pressure( static) 14" being MAX!!
Outlet pressure with burners running 10-11" WC approx. This info should come with the conversion kit if available. If you are not comfortable working with gas then find someone who is, for safety reasons.

Carrier furnace burners will not light.if i blow at the burners it will light.I think maybe bad gas valve or not enough pressure

this sounds exactly like the problem. I replaced a gas valve yesterday in a Goodman furnace that had the same symptoms. I would check it or have it checked with a manometer before you replace the valve. If your inlet pressure is right and you cant get enough pressure by turning the adjustment screw clockwise, it is bad. LP should have @11-13inches of water column coming into the vavle and an outlet pressure of 7 inches of water column. Natural gas should have @5-7 inches coming in and an outlet pressure of 3.5 inches of water column

I have a EVCON furnace DGAT070BDC. I replace the igniter control, the gas valve and the thermostat. Same problem continues: glow stick works, then the pilot lights works. The igniter control clicks...

You may have a dirty/rusty burner that is clogged or your gas valve
manifold pressure setting may be too low. Normal manifold pressure
is 3.5 inches water column on natural gas furnaces. ( 1 psig is equivalent to 28 inches water column). Pull and clean burner. Also
check and clean pilot assy. including flame sensor (if present).
Please let me know.

Change from natural gas to propane

1.You will need to change the pilot orifice and the burner orifices
2. You may need to change the gas control valve. Some gas control valves are made for natural gas and some are made for LP. They have regulators built-in, that deliver the correct pressure respectively. Natural gas is 3.5 inches of water column, LP is 10 inches of water column.
Some manufacturers sell kits to change the spring in the regulator from Nat to LP
You would need a parts breakdown on the specific model number of your fryer to find the parts you need. Hope this helps.
