Question about Westinghouse LCM-19v1 Monitor

1 Answer

Initial problem was the same as described by many others (screen lit for a couple seconds, then black); I replaced the five capacitors suggested by other repair experts (1000mfd and 220 mfd) - with same results. Monitor displays full-screen, good quality picture for about two seconds, then goes black. Power on indicator (green led) remains lit. Cycling power switch repeats the cycle - perfect picture for a couple of seconds, then black screen with lit power indicator.

In that case the problem is now with the inverters or the connections to the CCFL tubes. You need to test it again, and this time focus on the inverters and their connections.

When you reached the screen lights up for five seconds and then become black lg 19 for pc

I'd suggest that you have failing powerboard capacitors. These typically help build up the charge necessary to light the screen, when they leak, or fail, the power that they would have built up is lost through earthing and the screen will not stay on.

You need to get this checked by a qualified TV repairman.

My problem started out pretty confusing. One day I turned my lap top on and the screen, after about five to ten seconds of being on, went black. I could see things loading up sort of but the screen was too...

Darkened screen as you describe indicates a failing inverter. You can test this easily by plugging the laptop into an external monitor, if this works ok, then the inverter needs replaced, If it does not work, the problem is with the graphics chip / motherboard

Monitor comes on,then goes off after a couple of seconds.Checked the circuit board but found no problem, feel that the screen might be faulty, please help.

Hi,
This could indicate some component overheating/damaged. I haven't worked on a monitor like yours, but on several occassions I noticed that the problem was caused by blown capacitors. This can usually be spotted if you inspect the capacitors on the logic board carefully. If they are bulging or you can see black goo "leaking" from them then they need replacing. Other than that, troubleshooting of other components on the logic board is far too complicated to describe here.
Hope this helps,
Raf

Syncmaster 320 p screen goes blanc after 2 seconds

I just fixed two of these by replacing electrolytic capacitors in the power supply (in one unit, just the 2x1500uF smoothing caps, in the other I also had to replace a couple of 470uF). Diagnosed solely on the basis of the caps having 'swollen' tops (indicating that the electrolyte has dried?). Make sure you use 105 deg capacitors of the correct voltage. Symptoms were exactly as you describe.

It may be the capacitors, since capacitors run about $1.50 or so depending on size you may spend a little over $6 total if you already have soldering equipment or a friend with skills.

Monitor going black

HP's are known for bad capacitors in the power supply.
Replacing them is simple if you know how..not so simple if you don't.
Try your local TV repair centre. It should not cost alot to have the capacitors replaced.

Hope it helps =)

Toshiba tecra M2 LCD Screen

A pinkish tint is indication that the backlight tube inside the screen is not fully lit. But then it goes black - meaning the tube shut down? That part don't make much sense - it's certainly possible, though.

Replacing tubes is pretty surgical so I wouldn't recommend it. Replacing the screen should be pretty darn easy. A good, used screen should be pretty cheap on eBay, so that's where I'd start.
