Question about Timeslips 11 (TSW11RT) for PC

1 Answer

After installing a new replacement harddrive, I tried to load Timeslips v11. I am running XP Pro. It took my install, reinstall, serial, and registration numbers and went through the entire installation process. But, when I clicked on the Timeslips Icon, I get the error message below and could not open it. I have tried reinstalling it several times with the same result. Help! ERROR MESSAGE: Could not start the database engine. There may not be enough memory to use it or the software may be improperly installed. Restart your computer and try again. Reinstall if it fails again. Cannot find the BDE DLLs(8456) Area: Database Code: 105 Address: Exception tBDEDatabaseExceptionC in module Timeslip.exe at 000E41ED. Version: 11.0.2.28

The installed program is corrupted, an essential file (BDE.dll, a library) is missing. Get another installer, this one is corrupted.

Thanx! Do you how or where I can get a new installer?

  • Azrael SRL Aug 09, 2010

The installer isn't available online officially. You can either contact them by mail and ask them to ship you a new disk or you can get a pirated version from the torrents and use it with your perfectly legit serial.

BTW did you installed the upgrade packages after the install (and before the first run? If not reinstall again, don't open it, go here
    http://timeslips.com/support_and_trainin...
and download and install all of them, maybe one of them will add the missing library
If not , then your only hope is to try to fix the missing file by following their tutorial here

OK try this, go to the bios and disable the AHCI, and change it to the alternative which is ATA?. The PC should now boot up perfectly fine. See if I can re-enable the AHCI once you install all the dell drivers properly in the Windows OS.

Replacement harddrive into acer pc

No matter what you do, you need to partiton and format the drive and install an OS, be it with the Acer recovery disks or with an original XP install disk. You will need to boot from your CD drive to install the OS, if your drive is not bootable you will need to boot from a floppy and load drivers for the CD drive. For information on how to get these boot floppies check out this Microsoft link:

Need to install install XP PRO on used cluttered hardrive.

Please follow this excellent guide XP Pro Clean Install to lead you through the process.
Check first to be sure your system meets the requirements for an installation of XP.
Also make sure beforehand that you back up any documents or files you wish to save from the old drive, because you will not have access to them after installation. Make sure you have a CD with Drivers for the hardware installed on your system; you will need these to access the internet once you install the new OS. Also be sure to have downloaded AntiVirus software installation files so you can load this onto the new system before going online.
You could, if you choose, buy a new hard drive and install your existing drive as a slave to the new master on your existing computer. In this way, you will still have access to all your old files and documents, without having to back them up.
Best of luck, and enjoy XP!
