Question about Hitachi 42HDS69 42 in. Plasma Television
Hi, the answer is yes and no, let me explain.
Now if you want to watch tv through the ariel socket in back of telly then this is where you have a problem as the us tv's work at different frequency's but within the next 4 years the uk is stopping using the old analogue signal so even tv's made in the uk will no longer work this way so it would have the same problem as your telly.
Now here is the YES part.
As they are stopping the analogue signal in the and switching to digital then all you need to do is get a free view box and plug this into one of the input ports in the back of the telly and you will then be able to watch digital tv with no problems.
now most people in the uk subscribe to either sky tv or virgin tv they are both subscription based services where you pay monthly and you should have sky in usa or satalite tv what ever you call it over their. now with this you will get a box that will need to be plugged into one of the ports in the back of the telly, so this will be no problem for you and you will be able to use your telly here for free view digital but most people prefer virgin or sky as these have loads more channels and more hd channels, so if your telly has hd socket then you can use this with all uk equipment so, the answer to your question is yes you can use it for free view, sky tv or virgin tv which is our cable tv network, with all of these you have a box that plugs into the telly so you can get the correct signal, this box has the same connection as the back of your telly so you will have no problems using any of these services here in the uk
now for the analogue signal you wont be able to receive this on your telly and to be honest your wouldnt want to as you only get 5 basic channels and their turning the analogue frequency off over the next four years, they have started switching it off in certain parts of the uk but within 4 years it will be gone all together.
so by all means bring your telly over and you will have no problems receiving digital tv which is about 35 english speaking channels or subscribe to sky or virgin and receive hundreds of channels, sky is by far the best as this has the most channels such as all the discovery channels and history and movies and news and sport and on and on and on, with virgin tv you still get loads of channels but not the same variety as sky does.
hopefully that has given you the info you need and if you have any further problems give me a shout back.
if you have dvd players then these wont work with uk dvd's and if you have loads of usa dvd's then these wont work in uk dvd players so if you have loads of usa dvds then either bring your dvd player with you or get an english one that can be converted to play all regions or you could buy a top end one that is all ready region free

However there are qualifiers, and that is if it is an INTERNATIONAL set and will "Do" PAL NTSC SECAM.
USA Has differing standard that anywhere else in the world you MUST check the set carefully. USA is NTSC, UK, is PAL.

Yeah, use can use it but you will need an adapter for power because all the power in the UK is about 220 volts and converter is needed.

Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
