Usually you can try to download a program to remove the virus first.. try downloading this program Trojan Remover.. http://tinyurl.com/2kqq
go to this website, and after installing it, run an update.. then ran a scan.. this should find the registry entry that prevents the hidden files to show.. done it a thousand times
Cheers!!

Insert the USB drive into your computer's USB port and navigate to it through My Computer.

Now double click on the USB drive.
Once in the directory of the USB flash drive click tools at the top menu bar of your screen. Then click folder options. Now click the view tab. Scroll down a bit to the folder heading that reads: Hidden Files and Folders.
Select the option that reads: Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Now click apply and then OK.

I cant unhide my folders in my usb???

Can you unhide it on your computer, but can't on other computers? If thats the case then its probably a virus. You can solve this by getting a good antivirus. I use Norton. Scan and clean up your usb device. If this problem occurs on your computer, try the following steps: Do this with your usb device connected to your computer On Windows 7 or Vista, go to Start>Control Panel>Folder Options In folder options, click on the "view" tab and select "show hidden files, folder and drives". Apply the changes. This should do the trick. I hope this helps.

I have a Verbatim external hard drive...it says that I only have 2.4 gigs available but there is nothing on the drive that I can see...how do I wipe it clean and start over? I am using a brand new Macbook...

The problem with using these external hard drives or flashdrives, they're easily infected with viruses. Some forms of virus infections among flash drives and hard drives are the following: hides your files and folders, creates exe file extensions of your files and even corrupt your files. And later on infecting your PC.

1. Sometimes this infection can be solved by:

  • Going to Windows Explorer
  • Tools menu
  • Folder Option
  • View Tab
  • Choose "show Hidden Files and Folders".
  • If the files will show up, simply change the properties of the files/folders. Uncheck the "hidden" checkbox and the files will show again just like before.

2. If the above doesn't work, and your files are still hidden, do this one that will surely work.

  • Go to the command prompt.
  • Go to the drive where your hidden files are located.
  • Type the following: attrib -s -h /s /d *.* (this will unhide all your files that have been hidden by the virus) i.e. I:\> attrib -s -h /s /d *.*

There you go, a quick and easy way on how to unhide hidden files caused by a virus in your computer.

When i put a usb in my computer it hides the folders and files. But when i look at the usb properties it has the memory of the hidden files. When i tried it in other computers it already has virus.

Could you please explain what you are trying to do?
Are you trying to reveal the hidden files on a USB device or are you trying to remove a virus?

-Revealing hidden files and folders-
1. Open the drive you are wanting to view the hidden files and folders in.
2. Click Tools on your menu bar and select "Folder Options" (If you cannot see your menu bar, you may need to press "alt" on your keyboard.
3. A box will popup, select the "View" tab on top and look down the list of tickboxes, you should come across one that says "Show hidden files and folders", select it. Click apply and ok.
(To view system hidden files and folders, untick the option: "Hide protected operating system files", it is not recommended to have this unticked.)

If it's a virus, I suggest you run a scan on a up to date Virus scanner, once threats have been removed. I would also recommend formatting the drive (once you have backed up any neccessary data).

All the pictures i had have disappeared and my memory card says no images! when i tried to get them processed it just kept counting up images to over a thousand..

Hi. The most probable cause for this problem is a virus. Your memory card might be infected and the virus might have hidden your files. You can check this by scanning the memory card using an updated antivirus, then unhiding all hidden files. To do this (after scanning the memory card), open Windows Explorer, go to "Tools >> Folder Options >> View" On the advanced settings, Hidden Files and Folders option, click the "Show hidden files and folders" button. Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Click OK to save the settings.
Now go to your memory card via "My Computer" or Windows Explorer to view the files (images). You can unhide them so they may be accessible again.
Hope this helps.
