SOURCE: Support Question about RMS

you are going to need an amp that can supply the right amount of rms power to make it sound good. these sony subs are rated for 380 watts rms. so in order to find an amp that will supply two, you must multiply that figure by two. so you will need an amp that can supply around 500 to 750 watts continuously (or rms). also you are going to want an amp that is either class d or class ab rated. these amps are built to push subwoofers exclusively and will give you the best efficiency and sound out of your subs. you will also want to get an amplifier is a monoblock amp, and not a stereo amplifier. make sure the amp can put out that rms rating at 2 ohms as two 4 ohm speakers equal 2 ohms wired in parallel. i have a kenwood kac9152d that puts out about 2000 watts max at 2 or 1 ohms (900 watts rms) that i used with my two sony xplod 10's for about 2 years. it was kick ***! now i dont know if you need that much power but they will handle it as long as you dont push them too hard for long periods of time, otherwise you might end up blowing them up! (depending on the box size that is, and the quality of it as well...)

i have years of car audio installation experience and can help with setting up and wiring any mobile entertainment system you can imagine. may i ask what kind of music you listen to and what kind of box do you have for these subwoofers?

if you have any questions email me at thadoggma420@hotmail.com

Usually an 800 watt peak sub would be a 400 watt rms. Hmmmm. Anyway, just bridge the amp (1x 380) nd keep the gain up enough to stay clean. Watch the sub and turn up gain until it starts to distort, then back it down a hair. Do this with the CD players volume up 2/3 to 3/4 volume with the BASS and treble at zero (bass better at minus 4 or so if you are a bass head! Hope thishelps.

Why does my spa 500 amp blow a fuse every time I hook up my 15" lanzar sub to it

Because it's drawing more power than the fuse can handle get a fuse with a higher rating. A 100 app fuse worked great for main power with my setup 760w amp a 15"sub 2 10"subs and a 12" sub. Also my amp had 2 30amp fuses on it one for each channel but I ran everything out of one channel.

I have 2 pioneer 6x9 400w, pioneer GM 6500f 760w amp and a kenwood KFC W1012 sub, how d i get the best sound from these?

pioneer gm 6500 is a 4 ch amp rated at 60w-4 way to small of an amp to run your sub. UNDER-POWERING your sub is more likely to damage spkr than over-powering. my advice, get mono-block to run sub

Car subwoofer problems

The cable should not cause the problem unless it is shorting out somewhere on the remote or positive cable. I would use a larger gauge wire first as this is the cheaper way to go, and if the same problem occurs you are having a short in the sub or box causing the protection mode. You will have to back trace to find possible cross connections.

Helpp quick!

My bet on the rock solid sub is the voice coil melted and it is shot. You could just unhook the rock solid one and use the one that still works. Just make sure the impedances will match up. Also, turn the gains down on the amp the sub most likely fried from over driving or distorting for a while. Good luck man

Speaker type

I posted a comment on your other post not nodicing this one. But commenting on the choice of amps, It would all depend on what the model number is on the pioneer amp. Also it would depend on what kind of sound you want. Could you get me the model number of that and double check your model numbers for the kenwood sub and amp. The amp that I show when I googled it was rated at 250 watt at 2 ohms no where near 1000. so if I have the wrong amp let me know, I would like to help. Thanks
