I just started having a similar (if not identical) problem this morning. It pumps and pumps, but it takes much longer that it used to to heat a few cups of milk.

Have the same problem with a machine that has been in daily service for just at five years. Have thought about decalcifying, but have used the Claris water filters from day one, so should not need to decalcify. Does anyone with this problem know if decalcifying works?

Performed decalcification with the DURGUL solution and problem improved … does not seem to be “as good as new”, but material improvement. Plan on performing a second decalcification cycle to see if additional improvement is possible. Net, net, decalcification did improve steam production.

Do you descale (de-calcify) your machine on a regular basis? If not you need to try that. Jura has a big square tablet for that and there is also a liquid product called Durgol.

After frothing the milk it can take ages to reset back to prepare black coffee again. Both lights flash green for up to 15minutes before being ready to make another cup. Does anyone know why?

Hi Jan, This happens because the machine is too hot, due to higher heat being required for the frothing. After frothing, press the button as if you would want to brew a cup,I should blink. At that very same time, turn the steam knob fully open to let some steam out, ,which will lower the inside temperature. This should solve your issue.. Good luck, Claudio

The steam wand is bubbling the milk, not frothing

THere is a little black tube inside - make sure its pushed out enough - about 1/16 an inch from the bottom. And you may have to clean it out. Happens to us too and after I do the above it works

Not enough steam is produced to make good froth.

I have one too and what I do is: turn all 3 switches on and while I'm waiting for the "ready" light to come on I go ahead and pour the milk into my frothing pitcher and prep my espresso basket.
After the "ready" light comes on I install my espresso basket and turn the handle to the "left" so no liquid starts coming out.
Next, I take an empty coffee cup and hold it under the steam nozzle and start opening the steam valve until I get only steam instead of a stream of hot water. Once you have steam, close the valve, put your pitcher of milk under the steamer and froth as usual to around 150 degrees.

Not frothing milk

that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

Very common problem with the american maid makers.

bear also in mind that Krups are not the best at frothing milk, and this is also a basic model.

If you want the best capuccino Coffee machine, buy the italian ones, Gaggia, Delonghi, Ariete etc. that are all great at this, or get a bigger Krups as a replacement like the Krups XP405040 that is also good at capuccino

Saeco Talea Giro no steam or water from spout

I have the same problem as well, talked to a repair shop and it's definitely a "send in" or warranty repair. I was told it's an o-ring issue. I have no water coming out of the steam wand and it goes into the dispense tray instead.

Frother doesn't froth

Does not seem normal! You should get plenty of steam for the frothing. Since the unit is new you should take it back and get a replacement. The unit needs to increase the temperature for steam, route the steam away from the espresso group to the steam unit and the pump needs to activate to create the high pressure. Any failure in this areas will create your condition. It also possible that your steamer is blocked but this is a new machine so this is unlikely but you should make sure that it is not blocked.

Frothing arm produces a lot of hot water with steam

You probably are overfilling the steam reservoir. If the unit is showing that it has reached temperature, that is your likely problem.

Steam problem

If the milk scalds, you're getting it hot enough. It sounds like you're not incorporating enough air into the milk when frothing.
Make sure that the holes in the tip of the steam wand are clear. Soak in water for 5-10 min. and wipe with a cloth (no abrasives) and clear the holes with a paper clip end. Blow the wand out nice and hard.
How is your steam pressure? It should be about 1.2 bar.
It could also be your technique. The wand should never be more than 3 cm into the milk. For cappuccino froth, keep the tip right at the surface of the milk, lowering the pitcher as the level rises. You should hear a "shushing" sound, no squealing.

Good luck!
