Question about Raymarine St 4000 Wheel Drive E12093

1 Answer

I have a Raytheon ST4000 Autohelm (from 2000). Its been working great till this year. When I turned on the unit the other day - it usually spins the wheel a bit to adjust the belt tension -this time -the motor just kept going.. I turned it off and turned it back on -and it popped the fuse. Reset and turned it on again -and the tension step didn't seem to happen -but the unit turned on - I was able to engage the wheel, and have the Unit turn the wheel with the +10/-10 manual buttons -but after a few seconds, a "Low Battery" warning came on. Both batteries are fully charged, and showing 13volts. I opened the navpod, and checked the 12V DC power supply to the unit -and its showing 13Volts (No difference if the motor is on and charging the batteries , or if I am on shore power). Any suggestions? now every time I turn on the unit -it does not do the belt tighting step, and always gives me Low Battery when I go from "Standby" to "Auto".

Check power supply to the unit with a 50W 12V bulb as load, voltage should be at least 12V,with batteries full charged
