This is totally dependent on the software you are using to record.

Not knowing what you are using makes any response a wild guess.

IN GENERAL you must configure both the input and output device within the recording software you are using.

I use Sonar and one has to select the audio input and output device and tell the program which device is used for timing.

Why does my mixer take so long to select something from the menu and why does it freeze up?

Sounds like you need more ram or computer space. You didn't list what time of mixer or computer so can only answer basicly. If using a computer (which it sounds like) see how much the mixer needs andhow much space available on your hard drive. This is called a latency problem. Basicaly how long does it take for the computer to respond to commands while it is doing a task. either get a bigger hard drive and more ram or clear out some files on your computer. You can also go into settings and change the settings. You'll have to look through the manual on latency problems.

Im Using Acid Music Studio 8.0 With & Xenyx502 Mixer. Every Time I Record It Sounds Fine But When I Play It Back When Im Finished Its Off Beat How Do I Fix This??

check the "buffer" setting - set to the lowest number possible. You can't eliminate the "latency" but you can reduce it a lot. Also 0 try to monitor what you are recording with "live" sound (input instead of output) - also, you may need to download a different driver for your audio card, try ASIO4ALL

Look at the setups for voice and audio in the Windows control panel, "Sounds and Devices". Make sure the devices are set to the sources and destinations you want... This is not automatic and is a pain when you are going back and forth from recording and playing...

When i play the keyboard and record it. it does not playback what i just performed when i record drums it plays back fine only the keyboard. im using the mpk49

I'm not familiar with Reason 5, but many midi track recorders need each instrument assigned to different midi chanels to be heard back. Check the manual in how to assign the midi tracks. Also, the playback has to be through a unit that is multi timbrel capable. Good luck!

Sound won't come out when we try to play after recording. the thing worked fine for a while and now nothing. then it'll record fine but when we try to play what was recorded we get nothing. keep in mind...

Make sure the memory of the unit is not clear full. Strange things happen when things are full. It MAY look like it is recording, but it really isn't. Other thing is to make sure you have selected a song to play. Review the thing about structure of the files and folders in the manual. It looks like one can get lost in the menus on this unit.

I am trying to record sounds from my keyboard into my MPC 1000. I have what I think is the proper set-up. MIDI sync...softthru as track...etc. Problem is when I set it up I can play one sound and record...

It is not clear whether you are recording audio or MIDI. If you recorded Audio samples, you will get the same sounds back even if you change the voice on the keyboard.

If you record a MIDI sequence, and then play it back you will STILL get the same sounds UNLESS you also record the MIDI voice or patch changes so the voice is changed as it occured when you recorded it. Usually there are options taht you can enable or disable voice changes.

Make sure you have NO antivirus/antispyware/antiadware or other resource hogging background programs running while processing the audio. These programs hog resources to the point that the buffering within the audio devices is overrun causing gaps.

Reason as a sound module with the 8800

I have a boss 1600 and ive used it in the way that sounds similar to you situation. It sounds like you have overdubbed track 1 to next track. If you dont want to hear track 1 while rec. track 2 turn fader down, unless you have already recorded or overdubbed 1 to 2.You should be able to hear track 1 unless you turn fader down or cancel tracksound for the time being.track 1 swhould be heard but it wont be re-recorded youll only hear it unless you turn fader down.Thats how mine works anyway. It lets you hear it if you want but wont record until you song save or during bounce nd mixdown. Then you select the tracks and or the virtual track you want to use.Id try to undo or stat again and read about the overdubb in manual.Im sure youll figure it out.I cant hardly imagine what all that 8800 has and is capable of doing. But ive seen one and i think the midi devices work alot alike.Hope you get it.Praisehim316.
