this is happen when you install an new catridge or refill one printer is automatically adjust the catridge by alingment so you do one thing when you switch on printer and it will print something just read the instrction and follow them bcoz you need to setup the alingment thing . when the print is come out just place it in to the scanner and just press the scan button the printer will store the setting and next time not print the extra page bcoz the setup is completed.

I don't know this personally, but you should be able to hit the power button and turn it off right after you load the cartridges. then power back on. That might do the trick.

i was having the same problem and just got off of the phone with tech support who fixed the problem for me,
go into system preferences
print and fax
there you should see the printer cx8400.
remove the printer by clicking on the - sign.
then re add the printer, by clicking the +
the computer will search for the drivers and install them.
that should have you printing like a champ.
hope this helps.

SOURCE: Install cartridge
I did a master reset and now it will print but the ink level for the yellow cartridge still shows "empty" even though it is a new one but at least it prints for now anyway.
Turn off printer and unplug.
Hold down "OK" button and "Help" button and plug in at the same time.
Turn on printer and wait for reset to finish.
It worked for me. Hope it works for everyone.

"The print cartridge cradle cannot move."
I fixed this problem by disconnecting the power cord from the power-strip and connecting it directly into the wall. My printer was not getting enough voltage from the power-strip. I hope this helps.
