I have a Frididaire refrigerator model #FR26RBCW4 with a leaking water dispenser. I see no screws or other means of being able to dismantle it for repair. How do you take this thing apart?

You comments on the force needed to remove this were amazingly helpful as it felt like it was going to break. I will let you know how things work out. Thanks

Hi,

The water line comes from the bottom of the door check that hose connection, also pull the fridge out and look at the water valve for the leak. it could be just a split hose that you can repair.

The water reservoir is in the fridge at the bottom behind the crisper's , there is a hose that connects to it , it could be leaking from there check that.

If hose is good and all is dry, this means that the hose is leaking beyond the reservoir underneath.

You can repair this yourself, pull the fridge out and take a look for that hose take the bottom panel off the back and push in the disp button to get water you will see the leak.

Good Luck!!

Thanks!!

The water leak is from the dispenser in the freezer door. It only leaks when the dispenser is activated. How do I get inside the dispenser to fix the problem? There are no visible screws or other means of opening up the dispensing unit.

    Thanks for your response!!

You could get diagrammatic representation and cost of the part from :-

    http://www.partselect.com/ModelFrames.as...

    Procedure :-

Step 1: Remove the tray at the bottom. This can be tough because it
feels like it's going to break as it's being removed. However, once
removed, the imprinted message says that the piece is dishwasher safe. I
assume that this means it should be removed periodically for cleaning.
I removed this by wedging a wide, sharp screwdriver between the tray
and the refrigerator door. I worked first, prying on the side away from
the door handle and then the side the door handle is on. It does take a
little more pressure than I was comfortable applying to remove this
    piece.

Step 2: Remove the three screws that are exposed by the removal of the catch tray. These are at the bottom of the faceplate.

Step 3: Slide the faceplate up to remove it. There are no more screws.
I had to wedge a putty knife in the upper area between the faceplate
and the door to assist me in sliding this up, but it should slide up on
    its own.

That's it, now the innards of the dispenser are exposed and any further disassembly is obvious.

    Good Luck!!

    Thanks!!

There are a few screws to remove to be able to remove the panel and gain access to the inside of the dispenser. It is not difficult to do.
To make it even easier, you can go to partselect . com, put in your model number and you will have full diagrams!

If you don't have the kind with screws, the front panel should just snap off.
If you look under the bottom edge there is often a couple small slots.Put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot and pop the front off.

There has to be a loose or disconnected water line. Check the water dispenser inside the door and behind the door and then go from there.

Freezer & Refrig does not get cold

without a model number to check out what else might be in that area of the door i'd say a piece of tubing from the water source is leaking, or you are getting ice melt from inside somehow making it out through that panel now. i believe the water for the door comes in through the bottom of the freezer door and works its way up to the dispenser area, the solenoid for the water inlet is behind the fridge near the bottom (you'll see the water tubing).
more likely somethings just not fitted or aligned properly and waters making it out someplace it shouldn't.
best of luck to ya

Rust ruining door at lower corners of ice/water dispenser.

when you dispense ice or water, you are allowing the drip tray to overfill and the water builds underneath the tray until the water reaches the point were it will leak down the front of the door. the water will rust the panel beyond repair. you will have to replace the whole door at this point. hope this helps.

Water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Check the trap door where the ice drops through, it might be stuck in the open position, solenoid that operates the door may be bad.

Water leaking underneath refrigerator/water freezing in bottom of freezer

I'm dealing with the same problem right now with the same refrigerator. The cold water tank (for the front dispenser) has a hole in it that leaks every time someone dispenses water from the front door. You will find the water tank behind the top slide-out drawer in the fridge. The leaked water flows down one of the water tubes through a hole in the bottom of the fridge and onto the floor. I'll bet you have the same problem. Good Luck.
