If they were saved as a notepad file, you only save the sond listings, not the actual song files themselves.

Sorry to say they are gone and you will have to recreate the files again.

Did you install them on the online itunes account? They should be stored there so you don't have to re-download them.
Another thing you can try is to go to the notepad folder but don't open it. Right click on the folder, go to properties, and go to open with and change to a music player or itunes.
Or change file type to mp3.

Here is what I got when I changed to open with itunes:
Some of the songs in the file "momsmusic.txt" were not inported because they could not be found.
Now what? None imported, I have 600 or so.

My file settings for saving books in Calibre changed when I purchased a new computer. Can you restore to the original settings?

the area that has everything as you had it is the hard drive of the computer
new computer , new hard drive , nothing saved unless you saved it all to an external hard drive
It is very possible that if the hard drive in the old computer was still operational you could remove it and set it up as an external hard drive to recover all of the files and folders but if it was the reason for the failure , then it is all lost

Need restore my RAW file system back to NTFS without losing any hard drive files?

Still don't know what you can do to rescue your lost drive files right now?
OK! I have ever followed a video tutorial to resolve solve such hard drive data loss problems from here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S1F72QPGHm8
You can also check it and follow its steps to see whether all your files could be restored successfully.
In the future, to avoid such data loss troubles, always regularly save your drive stuffs on several places, not only on one hard drive.

I lost my photo at my hardisk

Do you want to restore these lost photos back?
If you do, you can try my detailed steps:
Step1. Stop using this hard drive in case that any new file would rewrite your original photos.
Step2. Connect this drive to your computer and prepare to restore your photos.
Step3. Download a deleted photo recovery freeware to help out:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
In fact, this freeware has ever successfully saved all the inaccessible data of my friend off from his WD external hard drive. So, I believe it can also work successfully on your hard drive, too.
Simply read more information of this freeware here:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/02/external-hard-disk-recovery.html
Step4. Save and back up all the restored data on a different drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Next time, you'd better back up all your important files on separate drives in case of the similar data recovery problems.

Don't worry, you can still use hard drive data recovery program like asoftech data recovery to recover files from hard drive after factory reset, but you need to run the program as soon as possible because once the space is overwritten by new data, then it will be impossible to recover your files. get the software from

-you did not mention what process you used to save the files. Did you use the software that came with the drive to save data? or built-in software of windows? -If you still can, try the manual way of saving files like highlighting files/folders then copying them to the external drive.

No, you haven't lost anything. When you restored your software, you only restored the factory stuff. You'll need to reinstall the driver for the external hard drive. After you do that, your external drive and data should be accessible.

When a file is delete, it's still there on the drive, just as before; all that happens is that the file table marks it as free space and changes its name so it's no longer visible. There are a number of "undelete" utilities available, including several good ones, like asoftech data recovery that helped me before:
