Upgrade the cpu for a sony vaio vgc-ra834g pc

I have upgraded cpu in the past, its a solution that is limited as you prob cant upgrade it again, newer motherboards support newer cpu, Maybe look for a cpu mobo combo to buy them both, Depends how much you can afford.dont forget if its an older mobo, it prob takes the slower memory, todays is faster. will your old mobo support newer graphics cards if you play games ??

Uatx motherboard in mini atx case

Probably however if you upgrade the motherboard you will have to upgrade the CPU, and the memory, possibly the hard drive if the old board is IDE and the new is sata. Also you would have to upgrade the power supply if it's so old it may not have sata power connectors.

Need graphics upgrade

Your Mobo supports PCI and PCI Express x16 Graphics Cards. Keep in mind some Graphics Cards require a MIN. Power Supply Unit, PSU. How much Memory do you have installed? That a easy upgrade. You can find some useful info here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00864946&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3340228#N144 ALSO, your choise of cards is good Take a look at this for example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100006662%2040000048&IsNodeId=1&Description=graphic%20cards&bop=And&Order=PRICE&PageSize=20. ON the left side of the page you can select PCI or PCI e x16, which is a faster slot/card. You can also Upgrade your CPU, in the HP support page it list the Compatible CPU. Here is a Little freeware program that may help: http://www.filehippo.com/download_speccy/. For further assistance respond to post.

How to make a step product of desktop computer

If you wish to make your PC faster there are a few things you can do.

1. You can upgrade your CPU if Possible.
2. Upgrade your Ram if Possible.
3. Defragment your Hard Drive.
4. If you are using an internet security suite such as Norton 360 you can even defragment your Windows registry.

If you want a step by step on how to build your own PC it is a long process but a rewarding one if you follow all the right procedures and follow some basic rules. It would take far too long to type and I would run out of characters before I finished so I will include a website that I have had friend use to help them build there own PC's when I have not been available to show them and they where all successful at building there own desktop PC's the link is below :

http://www.waterwheel.com/Build_A_PC/build_PC.htm

Other than this I am not completely sure what you mean by a step product as I know it to be a step up product which is an upgrade using an existing case or also known as a reskin. I hope this helps

Trying upgrade from PC2100 to PC3200 and am getting the computer to "hang". It states that the CPU speed is incorrect.

Look to see if there is a jumper setting on *********** board for the cpu speed or there might be a speed setting in your cmos. Are you sure your motherboard will accept a faster cpu

NEED A STEP BY STEP GUIDE ON UPGRADING

Upgrading the computer to the faster CPU, memory, hard disk, can be possible. First find out the motherboard supports higher CPU already , then find the right CPU for the upgrade,. Maximum memory that can be added in the comuter and type of memory supported by the motherboard. If you need more capacity for Hard disk get high capacity harddisk that the computer support. More important is make sure that the upgrade doesn't require to buy new operating system. Most upgrades are not cheper than purchasing new system considering all above needs. If you require to upgrade to more and latest system than it is better to buy a new system including operating system. The operating system may not support considerable difference in the computer system for upgrades.

Want to increase the speed of my pc

Hello alanwemple,

Increasing the RAM is surely a good first step to speeding your computer up some. It was my impression that the a340n supports a total of 4GB, so you might want to recheck your manual. And 4GB would certainly be better than 2. As for the CPU, it's upgradeable on this machine, it uses a "Socket 478" chip. Simply remove the old one and insert a new one. But, the CPU is probably not contributing that much to your slowness problem.

Two things that I'd look at first, before I tackled the CPU is video performance and the hard drive. A faster video card with more video RAM can substantially speed things up. And, the hard drive may need some maintenance, starting with defrag. You may also want to do a disk cleanup and while you are at it, run a full virus check and malware detection program such as MacAfee or Norton to make absolutely sure that no bad stuff is slowing you down. And these are cheaper than replacing the CPU.

Hope this helps.

Upgrade

In order to upgrade processors you will need a new mortherboard (if you want to use a core2duo). If your running a computer like that you will probably need a new case, memory, and an adequate power supply to run it and maybe another fan if your running a lot of stuff in there. You may need a new video card as well.

You could check at some used computer stores and see if you can upgrade your celeron processor to something faster. Compaqs are know to be trouble when you try to upgrade them.

Memory type for insignia D400A

This computer has DDR SDRAM
The processor is an Intel pentium 4
In some cases quoted as a socket 478 so a compatibe processor should work
