1.Your encryption for the security for the router you are trying to access need the WEP password. if this is your router you should have set up a profile with your password encryption. If you are trying to access another router in the area wirelessly you will have to have permission to access.

What is the security key of a belkin wireless router model f7d402?

Wireless routers can change the type of security key such as WEP, WPA and WPA2. WEP is the weakest type of encryption, and WPA2 is the strongest. To see what kind of key you are using, log into the routers ip address (Defualt gateway address in ipconfig command) then find the area for wireless security. The type of key and the key should be displayed.

When i try to connect my sons laptop i am prompted for the security key . i then recieve this message. wireless authentication failed because of a timeout

First of all make sure you are typing the correct security keys. If you are then just disconnect the power from the router for 15 seconds and plug it back in. This should work.

Hope this helped.

DELL E6400 Connect to wireless Modem problem

I have the EXACT same problem on the same computer.
I'm not an expert so I searched online but didn't really find a lot of responses to this Dell issue. One suggestion was to turn off Intel PROset and let Windows manage the wireless connection.
That worked for me.
When in the Intel PROset menu, click on Advanced, then click on "Let windows manage your wireless set-up."
Alternatively, you can toggle between the two software by pressing F10.
This solution worked for me.

Wlan key for belkinF5D9230-4 modem

Do you mean the encryption settings to allow computers and laptops to connect to the wireless router?
If so open the IE browser and type in the Belkin's configuration IP address ( and login to the router. If you diddn't change the default admin login then the password is blank, just press enter.
Then go to the wireless settings and note the SSID and encryption settings.
Then configure the wireless cards in the computer/laptop with these wireless settings.

Have lost the key to my belkin FSD7633-4

Okay, follow these instructions for locating your wireless encryption key. If for some reason the instructions do not solve your problem, call Belkin Technical Support for assistance in resetting the Wireless Encryption Key.

You will need to gain access to your router's control panel. To do this wego to Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. From heretype in:ipconfig
Press ENTER to execute the command. A listshould be returned listing some IP Address. Look for the oneassociated with,"Default Gateway."

Here is a picture.

Afterward open your Internet Browser(Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc...) and type the IP Address associatedwith the default gateway into the address field of the browser. DO NOTadd www. or .com. Afterward press ENTER or click GO as if you wanted tovisit a website.

Here is a picture.

Once you're atthe control panel you will probably be asked to log in. If you donot know your login details you can always try the default. Tofind these you can either search your router's user manual or head tothe online search engines entering your router's manufacturer's name, the router's model #, and the words, "default password" into the samesearch request to bring up the default login credentials. For example:

Linksys WRT54G default password

Here is a picture.

If you still can't manage to log in to your router's control panel you will have to contact the technical support department of your router's manufacturer (In this case Belkin) asking them for assistance in resetting the login user ID and password of the router.

Onceyou manage to log in to your router's control panel. Look for anythinghinting Wireless security or Wireless settings. Once found, look for theregion which controls settings on wireless encryption. Once found look around in the region for Wireless Encryption settings. Once you find them you should also locate your Wireless Encryption Key or a passphrase which can be used in place of the Wireless Encryption Key. Make sure to writedown the pass-phrase and/or the password for future reference.

Just make sure to try out the passphrase/password before exiting the control panel. Otherwise you'll have to follow these directions all back over again.

Let me know how it turns out and if I can help you out any further.
