Of course it can be fixed :) The question is, it is worth it? First thing you need to do is find the leak. Inside the heater, where your pool water runs through is called the Heat exchanger. Usually they are made of copper and if the problem is there, it an expensive fix. $800-$1400. The problem could also be a cracked header ( black plastic thats bolted to the heat exchanger) Or just the gasket for the header. If You arent a hands on type of person, I would contact several local pool companies and ask for a free estimate. A Pool service that offers a free estimate is worth doing business with. Make sure more then one company comes out and they both give you the same answer to the problem.

P.s If the problem is infact your heatexchanger, and its not damaged due to ice form the winter you really need to keep a better eye on your water chemistry. A low ph will slowly eat at the copper and once its weak enough the pressure from the water inside will blowout a hole and then, well then you have a leaky heater!

When mine leaked it turned out to be the header gaskets which are made of rubber like a hose gasket the are cheap but not so easy to replace unless you feel confident to disassemble the whole heater. I did it with no prior experience, by just pealing back the layers. first remove the top and body sides, then remove the metal housing with the fan (unplug it all first), then you will be looking at the headers and the core. check to see if it is the front or back header that is leaking, then unbolt it and replace the gaskets. it's not as technical as replacing an automotive head gasket... good luck

Master temp 400 2 yr old bad heat exchanger??

i dont blame you for your frustration!! i have hadseveral customers who had great water chemistry and had the heat exchanger fail. if you have a salt water pool, you should have been advised to purchase a heater with a cupro nickel heat exchanger instead of just a copper one. otherwise since ur chemistry was spot on, then you unfortunatly purchased a bad unit

Water is dripping down inside the heater on the left side, pool co. says I need to buy a new heater. Any thoughts?

The heat exchanger is the problem and it is expensive to fix. If the leak has gone on long enough to damage other parts or the heater is getting older than 8-10 years then it is likely better to replace it.

If the unit is newer and in decent shape then fixing it is an option but total for parts and labor is nearly half the cost of a new unit so consider carefully if the repair is really worth it.

PLEASE HELP.....cant not get Batizime pool to heat up.

something is wrong with the voltage it should be 240 when you test the heater terminals, i think the heater relay isnt making a good contact. but i would check for 240 at the main panel and chase the wiring to find the voltage drop.

Code "CE" stands for communication error and describes a fault between the mother board and the display. I doubt it's the relay causing it though...

I let my pool heater freeze

Once a Pool / Jacuzzi heater freezes they will haunt you again and again. You fix one leak and weeks or months later another one appears. Sometimes the only damge done is just the manifold gasket. It would be worth HANDS ON repair "estimate" to find out if it is the manifold or the heat exchanger that has failed. If the heat exchanger has failed BUY A NEW ONE.

1 year old hayward h1001d pool heater clicking

Actually, the clicking is likely causing the shaking. Inside the manifold of a H100 is a stainless steel diverter plate that send some of the passing water into the heat exchanger and lets the rest past and back to the pool. When it breaks, you will hear a 'clicking' noise at it rattles in the water path. When it breaks, the flow to the heat exchanger is intermittent and you will begin to boil the water, causing the shaking. This situation is dangerous, especially without a pressure relief in the heater or pipe. As long as your water chemistry is sound, Hayward will usually cover this under warranty even if the unit is over a year old.
