Question about Sony RDR-GX7 DVD Recorder
Could the problem be a slipping disk?
I had this and cured it by opening up the player and levering off the round cover on the dvd drive, removing the weighted magnet, then cleaning the rubber seat.

Hard to say because this could be caused by any number of things. You could try cleaning the optical read head but this could get very involved unless you use a cleaning disc which may not work. You could try different discs such as a CD to see if that still fails. It could be the disc format. If everything fails then most likely a repair is required. Go to https://eservice.sony.com/webrma/web/index.do and locate a SONY repair location.
