Question about Behringer Europower Pmp5000 Powered Mixer Pmp5000

1 Answer

Hi, We have recently purchased a Behringer PMP6000/VP1220/VP1220F PA package we have a pair of speckon to 1/4 TS connectors and a pair of 1/4 TS to 1/4 TS connector cables we have the mains on tripods and the angled mons in the floor on the connections do you connect the speckon cables to each A and B port on the back of the PMP 6000 power mixeran to each main speaker and if so where do the 1/4 TS connectors from the mons. connect to on the board or do use the A and B speckon ports separately one for the mains and one for the mons and just parallel the paired speaker with that and if so also which selection is used on the toggle for the amp mode main L and R, or mon1 and mono, or A and B bridge amp mode. Thanks, any help would be appreciated. DH

Please read a tip I just posted regarding a hazard of the Speakon to 1/4 inch cables when used with these PMP mixers.

If you are using your main speakers as stereo, then you will need either powered monitor speakers OR an additional seperate amp for them. The mon outputs on the mixer are LINE LEVEL and are not driven by a power amp. Use TRS (balanced) interconnect cables from these to POWERED monitor speakers.

You can parallel your two mains providing the parallel impedance is 4 ohms or greater (two 8 ohms in parallel at most). The the monitor speakers can be paralleled and the switch set to Main/Mon so that one side of the power amp drives the mains and the other drives the monitors.

To prevent damage to the mixer, make sure all speaker leads are secure before powering the system. Run the speaker leads through the handles of the speakers to prevent inadvertent unplugging due to personell tripping over cables.

DO NOT use the bridge mode in your use.

What number on each channel on behringer ep2500 to set for behringer vp1220 speakers

It is best to start with the mark on the ep2500 directly up (12 o'clock position). Gradually increase the output on your mixing board (MAIN MIX) to get desired volume. I you find that you're getting close to -10 to 0 dB, then start increasing the volume knobs on the ep2500. Watch for clipping on the amp.

PMP6000 mic level is low

Have you PFL'd the signal from the mic to see what level you're getting? You mentioned phantom on....are you actually using a condenser mic? What model mic is it? Are you using XLR or phone plug? EQ set flat? Do you have another mic/cable to try? Anything else plugged into the board has strong signal?

Monitor mix of x2442usb

Hi Mark, I mailed Behringer and they sent me details of how to do it. If you mail me at seanflynn40@talktalk.net I'll forward it on to you. It looks really complicated to get a stereo signal through but I just use mono signal and its simple and works really well

hi,
this mixer has output's from cd/tape(rca plug) that can be used to connect an additional amp for output to a sub. It is designed to use for recording but may also server as a pre-amp output to an external amp of choice.

I have a Behringer PMP 6000 powered mixer. Channels 4 & 5 yellow overload light is constantly lit. No sound from either channel (just a faint hum when volume slider approaches max level...

There are NO "yellow" overload LED's period. The clip or overload RED LED's are just above the PFL buttons for selecting a solo channel. There are "yellow" signal received lights (level set) up near the trim controls. In normal operation these will light when signal is received. Here is schematic for the PMP5000 which is really identical for the 6000.

Try turning off the Phantom power if it might be on... If that stops the hum, something is the matter with the bypasses feeding Phantom power to those channels... Possible problem might be shorting of one of the coupling caps at the preamp input. The PMH5000 drawings are more accurate at the input circuits. You will note that the level set LED's are the yellows, and the clip/PFL LED's are the red ones. I suspect that RF bypass caps such as C110 or C121 (example typical for channel one) might be shorted. This makes noise on the Phantom power line unbalanced and will get into the channel where one of these caps is shorted. Do a test: Plug a shorting jack that shorts the tip to the sleeve intot he inssert for the channel. With the LOW CUT button up, observe is the level set LED for that channel dims or goes out. If it does, then I supect you have a shorted RF bypass cap at the input..The next test involves driving a KNOWN balanced signal into the XLR jack and using a TRS in tthe inout 1/4 inch, test the levels with an oscilloscope to verify the hot and the return have equal amplitudes. I they don't, congratualtions you have to tear the main board out... lots of knobs and screws to access the inout circuits and verifuy the cause... it could ALSO be a bad transistor in the inout pair, etc...

We have a pmp6000 mixer hooked up to our ep 4000 and b1800 and b2520,it seems we can only hook up the amp to the mixer into either mono's 1 and 2 or the main 2 however not in main 1 with full...

MAKE SURE the cables you plug into 1/4 inch mains are TRS plugs, and not mono cables (TS). The main output 1/4 inch jacks are TRS balanced outputs and if you plug mono (TS) cables that shorts out the ring connector reducing the power by 6 Db. USE ONLY TRS balanced cables for interconnects !!!! Also read my tip on Fixya regarding PMP mixers. If you use 1/4 inch SPEAKER cables or adapters, if you short the SLEEVE of channel A output to ground you can pop the channel A amp. The TIP of channel B is the hot BUT the SLEEVE of channel A is the HOT. The ttip I posted explains why this is and it isn't mention in the Behringer documentation.

Cease using the mixer until it is repaired. One or both of the amps have blown. Further use MAY result in power supply damage. 1 to 6 switching power transistors will have blown and often a Zener diode or two. If the metering resistors smoked, there will be two small surface mounted transistors per channel blown wide open as well. These are all in the HCA2400 amplifier module.
