You can either use a paperclip and stick it in the middle of the tray door, then pull it open, remove dvd, pull tray back slowly as far as it will go, then press eject and see if it realigns itself back on track.

Otherwise, remove the cover and pull the dvd out that way.

My Bose unit is about 7 years old.

if you can not get a paperclip to fit in the center, then try a fingernail file or butter knife.

In order to remove the cover, you would have to remove all outside screws.

I can get a knife to go under the tray about an inch, but I can't pull the tray out or move it forward at all. I tried prying the tray out with a small screwdriver, but it didn't budge and I am afraid I will break the casing.
I see no screws on the top or sides of the unit..
I haven't yet removed all of the attached cables in the back so can't turn the unit over to see the bottom. Is that where the screws are?

Screws would be either on the back, side or bottom

When prying the tray open, you can go from top middle of tray and add a little force. It should not brake, if anything just the front little cover may come off which can be glued on. Most are just one piece and are very hard to break.

DVD tray will not open. Lock is not on. I have tried unplugging the unit then plugging it in again. What do you suggest?

I think your DVD player is trying to read the disk, but it can't. Try unplugging the unit. Holding down the eject button and plugging it back in. After it begins to to power up you can release the eject button. What your wanting to do is to get it to eject before it tries to read the disk. Good luck.

DVD went in...and won't come out

Whatever you do, DON'T try ejecting it manually. it can ruin the dvd mechanism. The problem is in the dvd power supply. If you have some soldering skills and are good with a soldering iron(temperature controlled is best) you can resolder all the three-legged regulators on the dvd power supply board(small board to the right front of chassis).
