CHILL WILL'S (motherboard E210882) WOES!!!

I PURCHASED A DELL DIMENSION 4600 AROUND 1993-1995 ( E210882 motherboard ). SINCE THEN I ATTEMPTED TO UPGRADE THE RAM MEMORY TO 4-GIGABYTES USING FOUR STIX OF 1GB RAM (KINGSTON-TECHNOLOGY KVR KVR-400/ 1GR )( 74061708954 2.6V )( B EPE16B0764 ) (P850085-01253530 ).

It seems like you have done everything right but im not 100% sure that your memory is correct. read through the description here carefully and you will see that this memory comes in two different packages. One of them is the 400 (the ones you bought) and another in the 333 flavor. I am hoping they did not make a mistake and gave you the wrong ones. Look directly at the memory and make sure. I am also including the system manual for your computer. Hope this helps.

Kingston's ValueRAM KVR400/1GR is a 128M x 64-bit (1GB) DDR400 CL3 SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM) memory module. The components on the module include sixteen 64M x 8-bit (16M x 8-bit x 4 Bank) DDR333 SDRAM in TSOP packages. This 184-pin DIMM uses gold contact fingers and requires +2.6V. The product is shipped in retail packaging and includes installation instructions.

My house was struck my lightening and then my Dell Dimension 4600 would not power up. I checked the hard drive in another computer and it works. I replaced the power supply but still get no responce...

It appears the motherboard is dead.
My choice of motherboards are Gigabyte, MSI, and Intel, there are a large range of models from these manufacturers, check the specifications and select one that meets your requirements.
I don't know if the Dell has standard mounting holes, I suggest you take the Dell the mounting plate with you when you select your motherboard to see if the mountig holes are suitable.
You may need to upgrade the switch mode power supply as well.

Need drivers for Dell E210882

I think this motherboard is suppose to be for a Dell Dimension 8250.

You can download drivers from Dell. The direct link for this Dimension is:

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 computer with a E210882 motherboard. I cannot find the driver cd that my aunt purchased with the computer. It is running a P4 2.66 cpu with a gig of ram. I just reformatted...

Here is the site you can get the driver from at dell:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&catid=5&dateid=-1&impid=-1&osl=EN&typeid=-1&formatid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&hidos=WW1&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

Download the driver to another computer and then port it to your laptop using a thumb drive. Install it per instructions and go back to dell for the other drivers. There is also software available to detect all devices on your computer and find the latest drivers for those devices. It is called Driver Detective see the link:

Cannot load operationing system because of fault saying, "no hard disk found in this computer"

Check the data cable. Make sure it is fully connected. (Sometimes they come loose). Check all connected data cable's & power cables within the system. Start with the new drive you installed. Unplug the data cable & re-connect. Follow it to the motherboard & do the same. If no cable seemed loose than replace the hard disk drive's cable with a new cable. Standard 80-conductor Ultra DMA IDE/ATA interface cable. See below;

ab2779a.jpg When you start up the dimension 4600, enter the bios, watch your screen at start up. You will need to press F2 or F10 key to enter the bios.
Once in the bios check that you hard disk drive is shown.
Most bios will list the drive by its model number. If you see the model number of the drive chances are you can save & exit the bios. Button up the case. You should be able to load windows.

Luck!
Mike

Ethernet Controller

Hi

E210882 is a number found on more than one Dell System Board. Dimension 8400 and 4600 come to mind. Possibly there are more. Secondly, E210882 is not a Dell Part number (DP/N or DS/N). While Dimension 8400 is a 775 socket, Dimension 4600 is a 478 socket. So they don't fall to the same family.

In any case the network controllers used on Dell System Boards are Intel and Broadcom.

To proceed, at least provide/confirm the system model. If this is not available, give the Dell Part Number.

Well if its still under warranty, contact dell if not you could google it and there is probably several places to buy you only need to match the motherboard with your chipset and speed. Check ebay they might have some too.
