we have several missing checks from his account as in copies of them. the bank did a great job in securring as many as they could but there are about 1/2 dozen missing. a couple of them are for over 1000.00 and we are thinking that possibly one of them was to Best Buy.

i am sorry, i thought you were Best Buy finance support. yes, he did purchase it at best buy. i wish we did have those numbers. the problem is she says she doesn't have it and we know she does. it contains his last signed will on it and being the daughter in law, now divorced from my brother, she isn't giving it up. i thank you for your assistance though. i'll try to call best buy in the morning and see if they can help.

Just thought of something else, depending on how your father paid for it, you might be able to check those records. Like checking account if paid by check, credit statement, etc. If you don't have these, just call the bank or bank from his credit card, explain the situation and they could possibly provide the info you need. If any of the banks have proof ask for a copy. Let me know if there's any more I can do. Thanks.

Was your father's phone number a 317 area code? I tried calling Dell to see if he might have registered it. They had no record of it. Obviously the best way to check with Dell is the service tag # ( a 5-7 digit # usually on the bottom of that laptop) or by the serial #. Maybe you can get the court to order the person who has it to allow you to write those two numbers down. It would be alot easier to check. Did he purchase it at Best Buy? We aren't Best Buy, just do free tech support sometimes. If you had those other two numbers though, you might be able to find that your father registered it with Dell. I think the court should accept that. If you need more help or think of something else feel free to add a comment and I'll be more than happy to assist you any way I can. Thanks.

A good registry scanner can clean up a lot of problems with your computer. Here's a link to a good free one:
www.your-free-info.com/RegCure
I've used this one and it sped up my computer by quite a bit. Hopefully this helps.

Ahem..folks..this is not the Dell service group. unless it was registered(not common that far back) there would be little to no chance of that happening. You might want to connect with Dell corporate(phone numbers at bottom of www.dell.com to see how you can work this out.

we are not allowed to dispense legal advice in these forums, so you may need to get that information elsewhere.

Hope this works out for you

Reboot, and tap each F key in succession, (i.e if say F1 does nothing, reboot try F2, reboot try F3, etc) one should get you to where you can reset or bypass the password function.

How to unlock hard drives

Almost impossible. You might as well put another hard drive in and purchase an operating sytstem and then install the operating system, drivers and application programs.

Not calling you a thief but 99% of the time when you encounter a computer that has a lock on the hard drive and the person in possession of the laptop does not know the password the computer is stolen. The original owner put the password lock on it to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data.

M.saeidi2020@gmail.com Please help me with bios password for my dell latitude E5500 Service tag: HHGMF4J-2A7B Please help... Thank you in advance

The BIOS-password exists for _your_ protection; if a thief is in possession of your computer, the password prevents the thief from using the stolen computer.

As the owner of the computer, find the original sales-receipt, to prove ownership, and telephone Dell, to get assistance from Dell to bypass that password.

Why is dell such rubbish?

Because they only want your money, not your loyalty. My experience with Dell is that their support is spectacular and unbeatable...if you are a business client of theirs. However if you are just plain Joe Schmo needing help then you'd probably get more help looking for support from Toshiba for your dell computer. My parents had a computer that was messing up on them all the time. They had it for about a week under a year so before the next week was up, I told them to call dell because it was still under warranty. My father called Dell and I couldn't believe the two reasons he was given on why Dell wouldn't help him. The first was that it was a "software issue" (I can promise you it wasn't) and that Dell doesn't cover software issues...funny thing is the only software on the computer was what came preinstalled from Dell because the computer was put back to factory settings to try to fix it. The other reason he was given was that, "Well your warranty is over in a few days anyways"

That my friend is why dell is such rubbish

(all thumbs up please, HAHA)

Possess dell inspiron 6000 centino wireless, need drivers and xp

You can contact Dell Technical Support and see if they will send you a new XP CD. All the drivers can be downloaded at Support.dell.com for that system. If you can't get Dell to replace the CD, try Ebay. Here is an Example:

Dell D620 not running on AC power

I'm afraid that Power Controller IC is went bad/fried.
It didn't sense correct DC voltage from adapter and were giving you those messages.
Best case scenario is Cold Solder and resoldering of IC will help.

I want my laptop invoice no.,its serial no is ;cnd7280f9x

Invoice number ? From when you purchased it ? The business where you bought it from should have it, or if you had it shipped to you the shipping company ( UPS, USPS ) may have it. How long ago was it purchased ? If you bought it online, or actually where ever you bought it from may have the records, it's best to keep ALL of your purchasing receipts paperwork etc.so you have it. When done online would have been best to print and/or at least save the transaction. Did you use plastic ( credit/debit card ) ? Should be some numbers on your statement that may serve as an invoice number.
