My 88 fox wagon has blown the radiator cooling hoses 2 times, second time was after i replaced first hose, it ran for 20 min and blew another hose. is it the thermostat?

It could be. More then likely it is a head gasket. You need to bring it to a shop and they can test if there is exhaust gasses leaking into the coolant system. If this is the case it will be much more expensive and will require your car to be unusable for a little longer. If it is a blown head gasket it is not good to continue driving the car. Have it towed to a shop.

I recently purchased a Delta 50-760 Dust Collector and was told I could convert the motor to 220 volt. I presently have a 220 volt saw and wanted to run them both on 220 so I looked at the book and it said...

I am currently in the process of doing the same thing. Look at the inside cover of the switch case. This is where the capacitor is housed and is attached to the motor. On the inside cover there is a wire schematic. Not a very good one. I have yet to fully trace out the current wire connections. Don't forget to change your plug. You do not need to replace the switch, just rewire input power to the motor.

Vw fox lights do not go on despite changing fuses and relays

Try testing the switch and then the relay. Usually its the switch. Use a flat screw driver to pull it s out of there connector. Use a jumper wire and shop manual to jump the terminals and see if the lights come on. If they do its the switch.
The relay you check for continuity and resistance.

High pressure hose connection blew up. Fix? or buy new?

Yes take it to napa auto parts and they can cut and attach a new end which are for hydraulics. They are crimped on and meant to hold very very high pressure. I used to use a pressure washer everyday for a living and it was a tractor rental/repair shop and we used the hydraulic fitting machine on the power washer hose all the time so rest assured.

Plugged 4w 120v trimmer into 220v outlet with a 50-2000w 220-110v coverter - it blew fuse and doesn't work. soldering melted off wire inside

scrap the trimmer...
probablly damaged beyond cost of new one

a step down transformer would have been a better choice than a voltage converter ( not trying to be a wise guy here)..

No power to fuel pump or to pump fuse at fuse block

You can get wiring diagrams from autozone.com -- they have parts of repair manuals online. I have the smae problem but the person I got my 88 fox gl from wired up a switch going to the fuel pump that you have to leave on while driving. I"m probably giong to fix this soon. It looks like the wire powering the fuel pump relay comes from the ignition switch. So if the pump side of the relay is good, but aren't getting power, you may want to see if your ignition switch isn't providing power on one wire, going to the fuel pump relay.
