Change thermostat

HOw to change,? Out. R&R the STAT

no year, no engine option size stated.
so will do the generic answer, ive done this 3 times, now. here.
1: open hood.
2: see RAD (radiator)?
3: see top hose?, (called the return hose on most cars)
4: follow it to the thermostat housing, bingo, OFF the housing.
put back new SATat, (id run the hottest version for best MPG)
with the wax side to the water jackets.
and put jiggle bleed pin, up hill , (varies by engine design)
use the correct gasket for your engine size and year.
varies greatly.
use anti seize lube on the bolts. use torque rating in book, minus 15%

No hot rads down stairs boiler comes on 3 miniutes then of again

Hello
By your post im guessing you have a 2 story house.
Have a look at the boiler, water pressure guage.Should be between 12 and 15 psi 140 to180.f when running.
If its above or close to 30 psi the relief valve will open to let off the pressure,we do not want this to happen normally.

If you have high water pressure at the boiler you will need to go to the highest radiator or any one on the second floor and open the bleeder.Looks like this

http://www.ourfixerupper.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/cast-iron-radiator-02.jpg

Carefully open it slow into a bucket, let air out until you get a steady stream of water.Do this to all of the radiators, idealy using a bleeder key or needle nose pliers. This may take some time.

Once we can assume all the air is out, check your water pressure again should be 15 to 20 psi.If you have no pressure then your auto fill valve is bad.If you have 15 to 20 then proceed.
Raise the temp of the t stat to start the boiler.6 degrees above whatever the room temp is.
If you still are having problems your t stat may be faulty. If your boiler is at 15 to 20 psi 140 to 180.f and it still shuts down after 3 min your return pump may be bad.

Hope this is helpfull

With new digital thermostat furnace runs every 10 min.

which type of T-Stat is it ? most standard t-stats have it built in that the temperature range is only a half a degree, it may seem like its running alot more, but in actuality it is maintaining better home comfort as it is not running as long as the old bimetal t-stats which would have a range of anywhere from 2-5 degrees which would cause the furnace to run alot longer, use more energy, use more fuel, and you would notice a definate change in the house temperture before it would come on or shut off, your t-stat seems to be working properly, and it will save you money, remeber also to change those filters !!!

We recently bought a new house (to us). It has a Goodman heat pump and Goodman Electric backup furnace(A36-15) with a Janitrol stat. I switched the stat to emrg. Heat when the temp got below...

If you have a volt meter, check to see if you have 24 volts coming from the thermostat on the yellow wire.

If you do, and it is set on emer heat, you have a bad T-stat.

It looks like it is wired properly.

If you have no meter, you could try changing the stat, I reccomend Honeywell or white rodgers.

Let me know if you eliminate the Tstat as the problem and we can go from there.
Chances are its the stat.

Electric furnace blows cold air before and after warm air.

It is normal. Your house has to go down a couple more degrees because the heat pump is not working. You can solve this by rewirng you thermostat. Take off the wire that goes to Y and tape off. Then take the wires that are marked w and e or w1 and put the wires to yellow. Do not run ac with it wired like this. If you need more information please post me back
