SOURCE: paragon 2000r gas fire -

I have the same problem occasionally with a Paragon 2000R. It seems to be related to the thermocouple. The pilot flame does not heat the thermocouple enough. Usually re-arranging the the artificial coal to reflect some of the heat back to the thermocouple will just make the difference. Maybe it is time for a new thermocouple.

How to light a pilot on an electric ignition heater i have followed all the directions on the heater and it still won't light

most elecrronic ignition gas heaters are remote control so you should have a remote or a wall switch some where and this means you shouldn't really have to touch any of controls inside heater and the manual starting of these fires is for service technician i suggest making sure that gas supply line you have to heater, check stop valve is on to let gas through. You then need to make sure the heater's isolater switch is on if has one so it gets 240v for electronic ignitor unless it is battery powered which obviously you need to change batteries in and if all fails from there i would call service technician, unless you are one yourself as above stated is all you should do if you are not a tech. Also your pilot may be faulty or may have had an eight legged intrusion into pilot stem itself it does happen have found spiders in pilots but its usually the web that causes problem so you should definatly call service agent.

You may have a few sensors, one may be a thermopile that energizes the pilot. It is a very thin but long bulb located in the pilot flame. Then you may have something called a thermopile which is also located in the pilot flame that energizes the main gas valve. It is a larger diameter bulb and will have metal wrapped wireg going to the gas valve. If the pilot stays on but the flame goes out under the logs, change your thermopile and look for a bad connection at the gas valve or switch. If both the main burner and the pilot goes out you may have a gas valve problem or a plugged vent pipe. If the flame just disappears it is most likely a gas valve. If the flame changes colors and lifts from the burner, that is a sign of a plugged vent. Good luck.
