Question about Unibrain iZak Digital Media Player

Open Question

Hi, I've recently had problems with my power supply. Although I can connect izak with my usb cable on my Mac, when I connect it to the power supply and TV the disk does not spin properly(you hear a tick). I have borrowed a power supply from a friend that has exactly the same model as me and it works perfectly. I've tried to purchase a new power supply from an electronics shop but, although it spins the disk properly, it does not display any menu on the TV. Is there a specific set on the pins of the plug that goes into iZak? I can't think of any other reason why it does not work. Many thanks in advance, Stavros.

I think there are 6 ways (at least?) to connect this printer:
(1) Direct to Mac (or PC) via USB Cable (2) Direct to Mac (or PC) via Ethernet Crossover Cable(3) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC also via Ethernet to router/switch(4) Ethernet to router/switch, with Mac/PC via WiFi (802.11 wireless)(5) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC via Ethernet to router/switch(6) WiFi to router, with Mac/PC also via WiFi.
As (1) should be simplest, tried this first. First document would print instantly and completely, next doc would hang in queue with unexpected msg, "Printer is offline." Only way to print 2nd doc was to power cycle (off-on) the printer. This problem occurred whether 2nd doc was sent to printer before or after 1st doc had printed. Tried 2nd USB cable, tried new driver, tried reinstalling printer; same problem. Spoke to both Samsung and Apple support, including both on a conference call; never got this to work and never clarified if problem was in printer hardware/software, driver, or something else. Both companies now showing this issue as unresolved.
Nothwithstanding USB problem, did succeed in modes (4) and (6), although custom wireless config needed since my network does not broadcast SSID and requires an encryption password. Procedure required connecting first via Ethernet, obtaining Configuration Report by holding down orange button for 5 seconds, then using browser to connect to the printer's IP address. Also required different driver for wireless config (as opposed to USB).
Bottom line: What seemed simple - USB direct connect - proved unworkable, but wired and wireless network config works fine.

Drive stopped responding -- problem with power supply or drive?

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or

if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver

if this fails to fix the problem

check usb leads for secure dust free seating

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable

just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems
hope this helps

I have a 1Tb Samsung Story external drive which I use to backup my Mac. The drive is plugged in almost all the time but only powers up when the Mac initiates a backup. As of yesterday the Samsung won't...

An external disk-drive has four major components:

* the USB cable,

* an "internal" disk-drive inside the enclosure,

* a USB-to-disk-drive adapter inside the enclosure.

* a power-supply (only if the disk-drive is a "desktop" drive;
a "laptop" disk-drive gets enough power through the USB cable)

So,

* change the USB cable,

* try connecting to a different USB port,

* try connecting to a different computer,

* disassemble the enclosure, and remove the disk-drive.
Temporarily connect it as a "slave" disk-drive into a desktop computer, to see if bypassing that adapter bypasses the problem,

* get the model-number and serial-number from the label on the disk-drive, and access Samsung's web-site, to check the warranty-status of your specific drive. If the warranty still is valid, then exercise the warranty to get a replacement.

* if the disk-drive is out-of-warranty, purchase a new, compatible, disk-drive, and connect it into the case, to "reconstitute" your external device.

* if the data on your disk-drive is "important", search online for professional "data recovery" services. For a large fee, they can repair a "dead" disk-drive, just long-enough to copy all your files, and give you the copy.

Usb cdrom on the on the optiplex 760 keeps disconnecting. how can i correct this problem? Talleys.

Could be Hardware or Software problem, try below suggestions 1 at a time to pinpoint the problem.

Hardware:
  1. Restart Computer with USB CDRom not attached. Then attach.
  2. Make sure power connector to USB CDRom is firmly connected.
  3. Change to diffent power outlet for power supply of CDRom
  4. If connected to USB Hub, disconnect and connect directly to the computer.
  5. Try a different USB port on the computer
  6. Use a different USB cable (if using an extender, disconnect) Cable should be 6 foot cable or shorter.
  7. Try a different external CDRom drive to verify it is not a problem within that unit.
Software:
  1. Do windows update. Also Choose CUSTOM update (3rd option is drivers). Update all drivers available.
  2. Download most recent drivers from manufacturers website and install.

The light on my Seagate freeagent go flashes quickly when it is connected to my computer, indicating an error. What should i do?

I had similar problem recently. I noticed that I had forgotten to connect the power supply cable to the USB hub, to which my FreeAgent Go was connected to, after I had connected all my USB devices to my computer's USB ports (after I had disconnected everything from my computer in order to isolate another issue). Reconnecting the power supply cable immediately stopped the flashing light and windows recognized the drive.

Don't know how you are connecting yours to the computer i.e. via a USB hub or directly to the computer's USB port. Note that my FreeAgent Go drive requires both USB connectors connected to the computer (or to USB hub). Two USB connectors are on one end and the other end of the cable is connected to the drive/docking station.

Hope this helps.

Sync to PC

I have had problems with that too, but i think i¨ve finally managed to overcome this. In setting>connectivity>USB connection menu choose Data Transfer/Service (I have Czech software, so excuse wrong names). Than Start LG Sync program, choose USB port and it should be working,
Although much more important problem for me is how to make built-in MP3 player play songs from external SD card without stopping after each song, not mentioning unavailability of other player functions.
