Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I just bought a pair of behringer eurolive 315A speakers, but when i play most songs through them i only seem to get half the frequencies of a song, its sounds really wierd. Ive realised im not using the recommended shielded XLR cables. Could that be the cause? Both the horns and woofer seems to be working, just not properly, its not a mixer issue as ive tried with different speakers and they work fine. Whats even more strange is some tracks play perfectly well.

I think you're indicating a self-protection problem.

One or more speakers or amps could be going South on you.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Why does the fuse keep blowing?

Hmmmmm. Are we talking about your internal or external fuses; Do they blow at the moment you put power on it, and what about the switch of the used voltage ?.... And was it straight away , since when you bought them; Then just send them back, Second hand?, too bad, you're ripped off .

I bought a Behringer Eurolive B1220 Pro speaker with my PA system brand new and it sounded great at first. Now it sounds really muddy (the other 2 speakers I bought work fine) almost as if the horn has...

Bad news...you've blown the tweeters. Overdriving the mixer/amp creates distortion on the amplifier which heats up the speaker voice coils and eventually causes damage. Because of their small diameter voice coil windings the tweeters fail first (opens up like a fuse element does) followed by the woofer making a scraping sound (deformed voice coil) or not working as well. Warranty service because you blew out the tweeters? Don't get your hopes up.

1. PLEASE use enough power for the venue that you have. A high powered system will run all night at 10:00 (physical volume knob setting) than an underpowered system set for 2:00.

2. Get speakers off the ground and closer to your audience's ears. Audio from speakers on the floor must battle surfaces that actually absorb some of the sound....carpet, drapes, etc. And besides, legs can't hear that well.

Behringer B1800 subwoofer quits few times and then stop playing, when connecting a another speaker through the in and out speakon connections the other speaker plays fine, but the sub stays dead

Check the internal wiring. There may be a loose connnection and this is VERY hazardous to you amp !!!

These may also have a self reseting fuse and that MAY be damaged.

You should discover the problem when you open up the unit.

I recently bought a pair of b212A behringer speakers. when i turn the volume or/and bass past the half way point the clip (red light) begins flashing. Is this a problem and what does this mean

Clipping occurs when an amplifier is pushed to create a signal with more power than its power supply can produce. The red light flashing is warning you that your are overdriving the amplifier located in your speaker cabinets. This can cause damage to your amplifier and or your speakers. You should not allow the volume level to exceed clipping.
