Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am using HP Pavillion laptop and entered the same network key to another laptap - Dell latitude. the connection works for my dell, but the one in my HP shows this error: Wireless configuration error: The network password needs to be 50bits or 104bits depending on you network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters. How cani fix this?

You must be speaking about encryption here.
log into the router and use the setup for security setting for WEP or for WPA.

I can't connect to the internet with my dell latitude d620 will factory reset fix this problem?

No. Factory reset wipes all settings and will require you to enter them again to get connected. You're better off using the help function in the Network Wizard to troubleshoot the problem step by step. If it's a windows machine it might be able to repair itself through this process.

Does anybody have wifi driver settings for dell d610

Network Key (WEP, WPA, WPA2 Encryption key)To connectyour computer to a wireless router, you click the Refresh networklist, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connectto your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Keybefore allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This NetworkKey is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used toconfigure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way tosetup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrasethat was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_addressFor information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in thelaptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

I have an old dell latitude cpi laptop and i cant connect to wireless.

First, make sure you have a wireless adapter. Not all notebooks have them and you may have to buy one.
Then make sure it is turned on and recognized by your computer.
Finally, search for the wireless network and enter the network key or password.
The person who set up the wireless network will be able to provide this if you don't have it already.

Please vote for my solution if it helps.

A reliable method can be found here:

look for Password recovery.

Try the backdoor password Dell

Christophe Grenier has written a program that will calculate the master BIOS password for Dell Latitudes from the Service Tag number. That program is available at http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~sk...s/latitude.exe.
