I have got to the bottom of this battery business (with a hacksaw!). It is the thermal fuse, a fancy 3 terminal item Sefuse D6X72C which is blown on one leg. Basically it is a very low ohm 12 Amp capacity fuse center tapped with a 50 Ohm nominal resistor. This was blown on one leg of the fuse but retained the 50 Ohm to the other leg. So the dv9000t showed charging OK but never actually put any electrons back in the battery. A new battery fixed it and I am trying to get the D6X . Seems at the moment they only want to sell a minimum qty. of 400! Maybe I can get a free sample. Otherwise with a shorting wire the battery works. Better watch the temp etc. Don't need a flaming laptop!. Regards Gilbert.
