SOURCE: how to check pci sun

Want to make sure your drivers are in place and no errors have occurred? Simply click start right click on my computer select properties then select device manager scroll to Display Adapters and click on the small "+" you should see the model of your PCI Express graphic card there. If there is a problem with it, a yellow exclamation mark should appear besides it. If you don't see it everything is OK and your card is working properly.

If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it

Click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to display adapters + to expand you might see a yellow question exclamation mark ? mark ! or a red x right click select reinstall drivers if you don't have a disk with the drivers you have to download them

Please be informed that any Driver Software depends upon its Hardware make and Operating System support. You need to know all these information to get started working with that particular hardware. You can find the driver software inside the disc provided to you at the time of purchase.

Hey, um, I have a Dell Demension 3000 and I want to replace the sound card on it. I have a couple of questions: 1. Can I just get any sound card? 2. I know I install it in the PCI slot, but where is that...

1. Almost all sound cards are standardized, and there are drivers for all major operating systems (windows, mac, and linux). After installing the card, you will need to install the correct driver to make it work, (on a pc, it is likely the driver will be installed automatically.

2. PCI slots look like this - http://www.google.com/search?q=pci+slot&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=1440&bih=802 - They are all on the motherboard, and a few of them will already be in use. Your monitor cable port is part of a card in a pci slot and your network ports are part of a card connected to a pci slot.

3. All your software settings are stored on your hard drive, if you don't swap out the harddrive, then none of your settings will be lost.

It seems that the card might be faulty. If there were incompatibility problems, they would normally show up under the operating system (Windows, Linux, etc), not during the booting process.
From your description, I suspect that the card's BIOS is corrupt. Try getting a replacement under warranty and see if the new card works normally (it should).

It's a big pain when you dont have the right driver. but try this:

1. download and install the Windows Service Pack 3 (XP SP 3) in the computer and check if it works.

and how are you trying to connect to the internet? you might just want to put in an extra PCI network card, if you want to use the broadband or if you need the usb ports to work, try a PCI USB card instead.

either ways, make sure you have installed SP3 in that computer.

cheers!

System do not reconize the PCI card

Does it ask for a driver to be installed? Or have you got the wireless version of the mobo that needs an ASUS WiFi-b add-on card with an omni-directional antenna?

Like on the previous version of the mainboard, the PCB contains five PCI slots and an exclusive WiFi slot, in its left part. By the way, when you install the original WLAN card from ASUS into this slot, the last PCI becomes unavailable. Now let’s examine the card, too.
wifi-s.jpg
The card supports the wireless networking protocol IEEE 802.11b, describing data-transfer rates up to 11Mb/s. Using the software that accompanies the card, you can use it in the Ad Hoc as well as in the Infrastructure mode, and the card can perform the functions of a programmable access point, providing connections to 31 clients. Thus, the owner of the WiFi-b kit can easily deploy wireless networks and connect to existing ones.
