Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Nikon d5000 control buttons not functioning. Reset button pressed & reset clock display appears but cannot use any controls. If I reset again with camera on, I get back to display of photo but cannot...

Just found this on the Nikon support website:-

My D5000 does not seem to respond to controls. Can I reset the camera?

In extremely rare instances, unusual characters may appear in the monitor and the camera may stop functioning. In most cases, this phenomenon is caused by a strong external static charge. Turn the camera off, remove and reinsert the battery, taking care to avoid burns, and turn the camera on again, or if you are using an AC adapter (available separately), disconnect and reconnect the adapter and turn the camera on again.
If the problem persists, turn the camera off, open the memory card slot cover, and using a paper clip, gently press the reset button by the memory card slot. ( NOTE: This will also reset the camera clock. Also note that disconnecting the power source or pressing the reset button may result in loss of any data not recorded to the memory card at the time the problem occurred. Data already recorded to the card will not be affected. In the event of continued malfunction, contact your retailer or Nikon-authorized service representative.

The camera stops functioning after a few seconds and goes to a dark screen. Pressing the on button again and the wrord "Access" apears on the screen. Please advise.

You need to use lithium batteries which last ages. This is a sign that battery power is low. It happened to my camera and I took it to get fixed. All it needed were more powerful batteries!

I Can not Transfer my Pictures from My Camera to my Computer

Hi:

Uninstall the software you had install by going to add/remove in the control panel. Reinstall the drivers again using the CD which came with your camera. Connect the camera to your PC and turn it on. Follow the screen to install the drivers. When it is all finished, click start, then computer. Now you should be able to see an icon with Sanyo. Double click on it .

If everything looks okay so far, you should be able to copy, delete and view all pictures stored in your camera by your PC.

Good Luck!!!!!!!

Error

According to sony that error code is refered to as a time and date storage issue.

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.

NOTE: It is normal for the camera to loose time and date settings when left uncharged for an extended period of time.
  1. Connect the camera AC adapter, and leave the camera in the charging state (powered off) for 12 hours.
  2. Set the time and date in the camera.
  3. Turn off the camera.
  4. Turn on the camera.
  5. Check to see if the date and time have been saved.
