Question about AOC 193FW LCD Monitor

3 Answers

I have been using AOC monitor, model 172S for the past three years. Of late the OSD window appears and does not go off. Please suggest me a solution.

Please let me correct you- My monitor is 172S and not 193FW. If it is a loose contact or short circuit, the values in the OSD menu window would not fluctuate and would remain stable. Three months back, the monitor would become very bright with brightness as 100% but after repeated adjustments and opting out Auto config the values do not change but the window appears on and off and remains for long periods, which is very disturbing.

I had tried switching off the monitor and restarting it after keeping the auto button pressed as written in the user manual but this also did not work. I ahve made yet another observation that this problem is more frequent in rainy season or humid weather. I would like to check if there is any accumulation of dust over some components but do not know how to dismantle the unit as it is press fit. Can someone please guide me how to open up the monitor without damaging the plastic body?

It seems that recently your city got a lot of rainfall and a lot of moisture in the air. Who asked you to open your monitor. Kindly don't try to open it. This is just the moisture issue and can be settled down easily. In my organisation recently I've got such 25 units for repair and most of them were ok after I hot blow on the menu keys. few did not got ok till i took a common pin and inserted in the menu button at 5 o clock. You can try it and let me know if its ok or not. I will provide you further assistance as of now 4 more units with same condition are lying with me.

YOUR EAGLE338 WANTED ME TO CHECK FOR DRY SOLDER BUT I HAVE NOT OPENED THE MONITOR AS I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO OPEN A PRESS FIT PLASTIC BODY. THE OSD MENU APPEARS WITH LUMINACE TITLE, THEN BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRAST MENU, ALTERNATING BETWEEN RED AND BLUE AND DISAPPEARS. IF IT IS HUMID DAY, THE MENU STAYS LONGER OTHERWISE IT STAYS FOR 10-20 SECONDS. THE MENU APPEARS AGAIN AFTER 2-5 MINUTE INTERVAL IF IT IS A DRY DAY AND DISPPEARS. THE LOCATION OF THE MENU IS ALSO NOT CERTAIN, MOSTLY IN THE CENTRE OF THE SCREEN OR TOP LEFT CORNER. IF THE LOCATION IS TOP LEFT CORNER, THE MENU STAYS FOR ALMOST 30 MINUTES BEFORE IT AUTOMATICALLY VANISHES.

Unplug the power to the monitor and wait 5 minutes. If the OSD is still on then scroll to exit and hit the menu button.

You mean the OSD menu? That sounds like a loose solder joint. The button when pressed closes the cicruit and performs that particular action. What is happening here is that due to bad solder joint the button is pressing itself and hence you see the OSD menu. I have seen this problem a couple of times before. If you have good soldring skills you can probably handle this yourself.

AOC vertical white line moving across the screen

I have dual AOC i2553ph monitors. One day I came into work and notice one of them had a single vertical white line moving slowly back and forth across the screen that looked like a scan or radar function. I reset the monitor from the OSD and all is well again. Use "Extra > reset" from the OSD on AOC monitors.
