This problem usually happens when the video memory can't hold the game's graphics. Updating the DirectX version will he helpful. Also, check the Ram. I would also suggest you to refer to the Game's System Requirements Manual.
If pressing F8 doesn't help, you have to terminated the game, you can press Ctrl+Alt+Delete on the keyboard and select Task Manager (or it'll open up automatically), go to process, locate the game process with it's name from the processes list, right-click and select "end task">"Ok".
Restart your computer, update all the required application (applications required to run the game) and play again. I hope this will help you fix your problem.
