Try sending the camera to the Authorized Dealer near you. They can technically evaluate your camera and tell you what possible problem it has. Just make sure that you have checked the warranty policy as it may still be part of it.

Thank you

3 times i've the same problem with my camera, 3 times they've sent it back. The problem still exists. A new battery, properly charged by me, the camera takes between 1 and 5 photos and then the camera...

Lemon law with company and replacements normally work in sets of 3. Now that you have had them send you the same type of camera, and the same problem has occured 3 times, demand that they replace it with a comparable or camera of greater value. Worked for my Droid to Incredible

I have had my canon 870is for about 1 1/2 yrs & love it-I have never had any problems until today-the battery flashed red(dead) & I removed it & charged it...Well, now since I put it back in...

Depending on how long your camera has been put away for, and in what conditions it could be either with the camera or the battery itself.
If the battery is older it won't hold the charge, so even charging it and immediately placing in the camera it won't have enough energy to power it on and stay on.
You can try to purchase a new battery for the camera, make sure it is the manufacturer indicated battery. Often people try other batteries and they don't work. it does make a difference.
This company is very reliable
and they also clean the camera as part of their repair services.
Make sure you tell them what is going for it could be something with the built in flash, or a camera sensor.
Try the battery first.

I have a Canon PowerShot A590 digital camera. It

Hmmm. With this, I suggest looking through your settings and trying to find a "power saver" setting. If that doesn't work, you could report the problem to the company. They should switch out cameras if you still have your warranty.

Powered in not On

That light brown liquid is acid leaking from inside the batteries. The same thing can happen with a flashlight or any other battery-powered object. Now you know why instructions for most battery-powered items always say to remove the batteries if the item is not going to be used for an extended period.

Unfortunately, your camera has probably been ruined by the battery acid. At the least, all or most of the battery contacts have been corroded, but they may possibly be salvaged by a competent camera technician. This problem is obviously not covered by any Canon warranty, although some battery companies offer to repair items damaged by their batteries under certain circumstances.

I suggest that you contact your Canon Service Center and describe the problem, then ask them to quote a price range for the repair. Once you have their price, take it to one or two local camera techs who have good reputations to see if you can get it repaired more cheaply. If the battery company offers any warranty to cover damages from their batteries (check a new battery package), then be sure to get a written report on that from Canon or the local camera tech and submit a claim to the battery company.
