SOURCE: my phone says check tel line.

I have a similar model from the same manufacturer.

You've got the AC adapter plugged into the wall and the phone base, and the phone wire with std. phone connectors plugged into your phone jack and phone base, and it's still not working.

This can happen if the phone line is not active, or if the "pair" of wires is reversed (which is how DSL worked exclusively for years). Ultimately, it's not sensing a dial tone on the line you're base is plugged into.

First, make sure you can hook up a std. phone handset, if you have one, to the active phone line wire and plug to make sure the line and wire can result in a dial tone. Then, unplug that phone and plug in your new base. You should now be able to use the phone.

If, for any reason, you can't get a dial tone, it may be possible the plug you're using had a two-line phone plugged into it previously, which places the other line on another pair within the 4 wires for that type of plug. In other words, the active wires you want are in the wrong place for the phone to access.

I would recommend taking this handset to a phone jack you know to work fine with a single-line phone, near an AC outlet, and give it a try there like I outlined above. If it works there, then it's just the phone jack and maybe wiring position that is your issue.

You can also find at many hardware and electronic stores a simple phone line checker. It's a small box with some lights on it, with a short phone cable and plug coming out of the other end. You plug this into your phone line jack, and it tells you if the phone wires are wired correctly (typically a green light), or crossed (red light). This may be the source of your problem.

I hope this helps!

All phones are plugged in and operating but i get a busy signal on all in talk mode

I assumed when you say all phones are operating means there's power and are charging.
1. There could be some phones that are loading the Tel line. Disconnect all phones and plug it one by one while checking the dial tone. If all phones gives busy tone, there coulb be a problem in the Trunk line or the Tel Company line.
2. There could be a short or resistance in the line. Check the connection in junction box between your house and the Tel Company cable.
3. If you have an analog Tel set, you can check the dial tone directly from Tel Company cable that comes in to your house.

I hope this helps.
Best Regards.

Remove the backup battery and unplug the fax machine and leave overnight. By morning I'am hoping it will wipe everything clean when plugged back in along with the battery. But it will mean you will have to set your date and time again.

Message on handset reads - "Check TEL Line"

This generally indicates a phone line tha is dead. It may have timed out because a phone on the line has been left or knocked "off-hook". If so hangup the offending phone. In a short time the problem will self-correct. Beyond that, unplug ALL the phone appliences ( Fax,Computer, phones) Then, after waiting about 5min plug in 1 phone to see if it works. If that worked, re plug in the remaining items 1 at a time checking that the phone still works. If it quits, the last item you plugged in is likely causing the trouble. If the phone did not work, then go to the demarcation test box(ouside where the phone line comes in) open the portion which does NOT have the tamper proof screw. Unplug the short jumper wire and plug in a telephone. If the phone works there, the incoming phone service is ok, if it doesn't work call for service. If callers have complained tha you seem to pick up then immediately hang up, clean accumulated dust from jacks that are on outside walls particularly any near humidfiers tha may have caused the dust to become conductive. (a vacume cleaner should work) PS look for chewed cords (cats, dogs)

Disconnects incoming calls after one ring

The problem may be a short on your line. (Have the local Teleco check your line.) If you have other phones, you may want to check them for dial tone(DT) when this happens. If you have no DT, your cordless may be the problem...unplug, and let charge overnight. If problem continues, replace the battery in cordless, or discontinue use.

Not sending fax

Plug a phone into that line and see what happens. Let me know what happens. Plug the phone into the line that goes into the fax machine. Make sure it works and is clear. No static or noise.
