Im having a problem where we had a power surge where we live and when the power came back on, the tv won't cut back on. The green light is flashing, but nothing. I've read the suggestion about tha capacitors and am wondering if there's another possible solution. If not, would i be able to change them myself without taking the tv apart? I dont know where the dm board is but im not really trying to pay an arm and a leg. Plus the playoff games come on in a few hours! Thank you for any help. Dee

Re: TV wont turn on
Go to this site they have the service manual which they email you after purchase and that entitles you to free tech support and they have a repair tech that can do the repair in his sleep he will actually send you step by step instructions with pictures on doing the repair which only cost a few dollars in capacitors

Sounds like there is a short in the tv somewhere, the clicking is probably a breaker/fuse inside the tv cutting power to prevent damage to the components. Have you tried a different outlet as they can sometimes cause this to occur by surging power to the unit.
ok lets try this hit the power button on the DVD player some go into stand by mode and when power is interrupted you have to push the button manually also reset the surge protector next get a lamp that you know works and unplug the tv and plug the lamp into the socket where the TV was plugged into turn on the lamp, does it turn on? yes then something wrong with TV again may have been in stand by mode plug back in and try pushing the power switch on make sure the TV if it has a remote is on the right im put to get a picture say like a satellite or cable or DVD player. hope this helps.
i have a rca television and my t.v. just cut off when i was looking at it and , when i tried to cut it back on, there was no sound and no picture and the power button did not want to cut off on it's on i had to unplug it.
This sounds like when the power came back on a surge went into your tv and burnt out the TVs main power supply or possibly burn out the flyback power converter on the TV main board!
(I am pretty sure it is either one of these things!)

after a power surge if you dont have in on a surge protector it probably fried the main board in the tv so it wont work anymore..woudl probably be cheaper to buy a new tv than to try to repair the one you have now
If you live in an high altitude area it can cause a plasma to hum.
Another thing you can try if you don't live in an area like that is
using a surge protector. The thing is your power outlet could be
sending what's called "Dirty Electricity" to your tv that could be
causing it to hum. I would recommend something that does "power
filtering" like a Panamax surge or a Monster surge. So that you get
clean power to the tv
Hope my info is useful.... Thanx for using fixya......
