Use the disc that came with the printer and uninstall the Imaging Device and then reinstall it again. It should work.
When you click on uninstall you will be given two options: To uninstall everything or choose software to uinstall.
Choose the second one, that way you won't have to uninstall everything.
If you've have finished doing so. Try scanning again, there;s a big chance it would work now.

Use scrubber.exe (HP uninstall aplication) to clean your system. It removes all the HP files related to previous HP instalations. It should be on your driver cd, and you can download it from HP website.

I have the hp deskjet F4180 printer I have used for at least two years. My lap top is a Gateway Windows Vista. Recently the printer failed to print so I deleted the printer as it would not delete the...

HP software can often give you a headache. When you said you deleted the printer did you simply delete it from the control panel where all of your installed devices are listed? If that is the case you need to use HP's Uninstall program to completely remove all HP software for this device before attempting to reinstall the software. If the HP software is no longer listed under your "Start - Programs" menu you can use the Control Panel, go to "Programs - Uninstall a program" find the HP software and remove it. Once that is done you can use your friends CD if it is Vista compatible or download the driver at this link:

My printer stays on and will not be recognized by my computer ... even when i unplug it to try and reset it the power stay's on .... not sure what the problem is but only used the printer twice so any help...

Hi, this is probably a USB issue. Here is what i would do. Uninstall printers drivers. Unplug the USB cables. Download the latest drivers from HP. Then install the new drivers and wait untill the software tells you to plug your usb cable. Your printer may stay in sleep mode while it's not prining, it may be completely normal. But if you have serious doubts, you could call the HP thech support.

HP F4180 Printer printing small

Hi Lady Luxe,

Try running the Manual Uninstall solution (click link below):

Then run the HP Installer from your disk (v. 8.0). You may want to also restart your Mac after installation is successful (make sure you complete the Setup Assistant - don't skip it!).

Try to scan from the glass scanner bed to see that your connection is solid. Try to print now and it should be fine.

HP Deskjet F4180 won't scan on my mac

Here's what I did to get it to work:
1. I ran the HP uninstaller and removed everything. 2. I downloaded the drivers [full set, with apps] from HP and installed them. 3. I think this was the trick - Open the HP Device Manager and click Scan Preferences in the drop down menu next to Information and Settings. Click the settings tab and make sure only ONE option has the "skip scan preview window' option checked. I picked Front Panel.
Could be coincidence but it worked for me. :D Good Luck.
