I have worn out 2 model 4100's and am now using a 5100. They usually give at least one year of service if used frequently and are pretty rugged. Recently ordered TWO refurbed 4100's from Aiptek for a total cost of $48.00.

My AIPTEK 1080p was powering on but the screen was turning off within
one second of turning the unit on. I verified that the camera was
still working and just the output onto the screen failed. I was able
to resolve this by hooking the camcorder up to the TV and viewing the
menus on the TV and then turning the camcorder off with the power
button. I think this problem happened because I didn't do a "clean"
shutdown the last time I had my aiptek hooked up to the TV. It is now
