Question about HP J3680 Officejet All In One Printer

I think my printer became disconnected from my computer; it will not print. How do I reconnect it. What do I need to do? I don't have any of my original instructions.

No sweat...
basically in this case, first it depends on if it is wireless or not...
if wireless, make sure you disable any internet security software you have and test print see if it works if not do step 2..
Step 2: if not wireless, will have to uninstall and reinstall printer, best and quickest solution to problem..
GO to Control panel.
then to Program/Programs and features or Add and remove programs.. then go to the printer software in the list..
Right click on it then uninstall it.. reboot system..
after reboot reinstall the software and it should work, also if you dont have the software like you mentioned in post...
All manufacturers have a copy of their driver software on there website, usually under the support and driver section...
after going to there website it will ask you for your make and model and then it will take you to the support page for the device and whatever you need whether it may be installation information, it will be located on this page of this website...

I installed new cartridges (Lexmark brank both black and color) and my printer won't work now.


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

  • Try disconnecting the USB cable but don't turn off the printer.
  • Access and remove the cartridges by opening the cover.
  • Cover it back and wait for the insert ink cartridges message to display.
  • Disconnect the printer from power completely by unplugging power cord from supply[socket].Wait a few minutes[2-3]
  • Reconnect the power cord and then press power button if it doesn't automatically power on.
  • Open the cover and re-insert the ink cartridges.
  • Close the cover.Sometimes it will prompt you to print a calibration page,please do.
Reconnect the USB cable now and try printing.

Printer operates unexpectedly but soesn't draw through paper or print

I have a Lexmark X4550 printer. Recently, when I try to scan it asks me to enter a PIN. I don't recall ever setting a PIN. How can I reset it and/or set my printer to not require it?

I cannot use the scan function on my X5470--specifically, to scan documents into PDF format. "Cannot retrieve Application List" is the messge shown. How do I repair this function?


Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software allows you to scan your documents to PDF file. The software is only available on the installation disc that came with your Lexmark printer. If you don't have the disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for assistance.

Please follow the steps in the order below and check.

1. Make sure the product is on, and then disconnect the power cord from the product.
2. Disconnect the USB cable from the product, and then disconnect it from the computer.
3. Reconnect the USB cable to the computer, and then reconnect it securely to the product.
4. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, and then reconnect it to the wall outlet.
5. Reconnect the power cord to the product.
6. Press the Power button to turn on the product.

Now perform these steps on the computer...
(1) Click "Start" > "Run".
(2) Type "services.msc".
(3) Click "OK".
(A window will pop-up with so many services listed)
(4) Locate and Right-click "Print Spooler" entry and Select "Restart" from the drop down menu.
(5) Now please restart the computer.

I received an error message that ink cartridges needed replacing. I replaced the ones stated and checked the ink levels on the computer. The report is that the ones replaced are at 100% and the others have...


If you are using refilled (worst cartridges) or third party cartridges then that is most likely the problem.

If you are using factory new HP cartridges, then you need to contact HP to get the cartridges replaced.

My Canon IP1700 will not print last page first, tho I've checked the box and unchecked it and checked again, it still prints first page first, regardless (ever since I bought it.)


Go to your printer preferences and be sure that your configuration is right.
Set the pages as your program allow. For example if you're using MS Word you can set the pages, by number, odds and even or collate. Check the order of your pages at your document.
Be sure about that first.

Go to the menu of the printer (not in the computer) and check the sequence of printing.

If the problem is not related to your program and you think that your printer became crazy
do this:

disconnect printer from computer
cancel documents in queue
if using a straight USB connection, delete all instances of printer. else remove duplicate printer icons.
reboot & reconnect printer (swap cables if not detected)
