You deleted everything...if you could find the cd (recovery) you would be in good shape...go to the web site of your computer (brand name) look for contact us / number and call to ask for recovery cd (9 out 10 times they will send to you free of cost) just tell them the model of computer which is located on the front...

How do i fix my computer? when i reformat it i accidentally turn off my computer and when i turn it on i need a cd to fix it, but i dont have a cd for it. how do i fix it?? my computer is gateway windows...

You cant just download it ... Is there a "D" drive on your computer? Do you have a boot floppy or a boot stick? You have the license on the computer, right?

You might see what you can find for your model at the Gateway web site ... they may offer CD for a small fee.

If you reformatted the drive you might still have the "D" where original software is generally stored.

If all else fails, take it to the big box store for help.

I reformat my laptop, since then the original programs did not comeback to its original use..What should i do?Is it possible to retrieve the original one?

You'd have to reinstall them if you have the original cd/dvd. Reformatting will wipe everything out. Restore is where it will turn back the laptop to before you had problems.

Emachine 3653 factory restore

You can use the Restore CD that came with the computer. The eMachines restore disk sets your PC back to factory settings with the original operating system and programs that were shipped with the computer. Doing so resolves many problems that can arise from long-term computer use, viruses, or the operating system slowing down.

1. To do a factory restore insert the restore CD then reboot the computer. When prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

2. Select the option to "Reformat the drive to factory settings."

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the operating system and original software that came with your computer.

4. Once the Restore finishes, you can re-install all the programs that you added to the computer as well as restore your files.

Reminder: Reformatting your computer erases all of your installed programs, personal documents, pictures and music. If you have the ability to, back up all of your personal data using a removable flash drive, external hard drive or DVDs before doing a Factory Restore.

My computer has a virus that won't allow me to open any programs at all. It terminates the process. My issue is, I'm trying to reformat my Dell Latitude D610 to original state but I don't know how to do...

To reformat your computer to the original state, you will need the operating system or repair CD that came with your laptop originally. If you do not have this, you can buy a Windows XP CD from most places that sell computers. If you are still under warranty you might be able to get a repair disk for free. This CD will make the computer like a generic unused computer from a factory.

To reformat the computer you will need to boot from the CD. Turn the computer on with the CD in. If the computer doesn't look different than usual when you start up, restart the computer. If somewhere on the screen you see "Boot Menu" next to "F1" or F(some other number), press that key at the top of your keyboard, otherwise, restart with the power button and right away press all the function keys (F1-F12), Esc and Delete over and over again until the text on the screen changes. This will bring you to either a menu allowing you to boot from cd, or a BIOS screen. If it's the former, boot from the CD.

If you are at a bios screen, find and go to the "boot sequence" menu, and move the CD drive to the top of the list. You can change this back later. Now save and exit the BIOS. If the computer begins starting up as usual, restart the computer with the power button.

Once you are boot from the CD, follow the instructions to reinstall. Use the whole disk drive if prompted, or the one that says has NTFS or FAT in it's name. Once your done with this, you should be ready to go.

How can I reformat my A20m IBM Thinkpad..

Doing a Format on your PC Should Be A Last Resort! Reformatting your Windows computer is usually the absolute last resort and is often done unnecessarily. Before you go through the process of doing a reformat of your hard drive please take a few moments to read through the rest of our website. If you are reformatting to fix problems with your Windows computer it's possible that by using some of the tips on our site, or by downloading or purchasing some of the tools or products that we link to, you might be able to avoid the need to reformat your computer. Because doing a complete reformat of your computer will erase the contents of the hard drive and require you to reinstall all software, reformatting is usually a last resort. Some Computer Manufacturers Make Reformatting Easy Many name-brand PC manufacturers include a restore-disk which makes it easy to reformat your PC and return it to the state it was in on the day you purchased it. Some manufactures supply only a standard Microsoft Windows CD, and some (usually lower-end PC manufacturers) supply neither! If your PC did not come with a restore or reformatting CD, then you will need to take extra steps to format your hard drive and get Windows re-installed. Back Up Your Files Before You Reformat your Windows PC!Because the reformat or restore process erases everything on your computer, it is critical to have a backup of any important files on your computer. You will also need your original software install disks to reinstall any software you have purchased.

Things to do before you reformat your PC hard drive
  • Write down or print out all notes and internet pages because once the format process begins, you will no longer have access to them (or anything else in the PC)
  • As already stated, BACKUP all important files and data! When you reformat your computer everything will be erased!
  • Make sure you have all the CDs and other software. All programs will have to be reinstalled after you format the hard drive. Don't forget about software that came with hardware such as printers, scanners, etc.
  • Write down the brand and information for all the hardware on your computer. Look in the Device Manager and make note of the brand and model of network adaptors, video cards, sound cards, printers, modems, and displays. After reformatting you might need this information to reinstall drivers.

Please help going out my head with this problem

dell machines store information about the recovery partition in the boot record of the computer.
If your computer was reformatted earlier or the original boot record was replaced this would happen.

What you can do right now is insert the dell recovery cd in the drive and restart the computer. it will ask you on the screen to press any key to boot from cd press any key and the reinstallation formatting options would appear on the screen.

I hope this helped!
