You'll need to swap out the blu-ray laser. It's a VERY common problem with the PS3.

You can get it repaired by Sony direct or check locally to see if there are any Video Game stores around that can help you out. DIY is always an option as well.

The PS3 will not recognize games or movies. You load it and it will not show in up in the menu of options. It powers and shows the normal menu but does not recognize games or dvds regular or blue ray.

Game will not recognize the joystick.

If it doesnt work, then try the controller. If the controller works, then just use that. Sometimes the system does not recognize the joystick.

Doesn't recognize game

Use a magnifying glass and check the metal pins that connect to the game. Look for any pins that seem low, these mat not be touching the games connectors. If that doesn't work, i'm afraid it's more likely to be a fault on the main curcuit board; Or get rid of it on eBay on a Sunday, you'll probably get £35-£45 as it is.
Hope this helps?
